Im restoring a 1972 donzi i/o with the holman moody motor. The belhousing states that its was a 302 but has a 351w bolted to it. The paperwork says that it came with a 351. I also need to know what color it should be. it came out red but under the spraybomb its blue with black valve covers. Pictures I see show that it was red and the bellhousing white. All info greatly needed Thanks,

I believe the color is old ford blue that H/M used . post the numbers on the bell housing that will shed some light , both it and or the motor might have been replaced sometime over the boat's lifetime.

I owned a 1970 DONZI 16’ Ski Sporter that was powered by the original 351 Holman Moody Ford W and a Volvo 250 outdrive. The hull number is 16600, the motor has the stamped metal plate with HM CP number EOHM-4042-1-RW-I/O 290 4V.
E = 351
0 = 1970
HM = Holman Moody
4042 = serial number
1= I believe RH rotation
I/O inboard/outboard
290 = 290 HP
4V= four barrel carburetor

That being said your numbers are as follows
D= 302
2= 1972
HM = Holman Moody
3214 = serial or production number
1 + RH rotation
RW = raw water cooled.
Old Ford blue is the correct color

Good luck with your project and keep us posted on your progress.
