Thinking about buying a new project boat. It's a 1990 Sunsation rocket 24. Wondering if anyone has had first hand experience with this model? Go ahead and give me the good, bad, and ugly. Looking for a boat that will handle 80 plus mph.

Thanks

The Rocket is an excellent hull and if it is the one I believe it to be, that is an excellent find ft.

There is a 1990 Rocket for sale in Michigan for $13,000. I won't post any more info in case it is the one you're looking at. Sunnys are plentiful in Michigan and I would definitely consider one. A 24 Rocket called me out on Lake St. Clair shortly after I installed the 525. He thought I'd be an easy victim with his home built 502. I smoked him three times. From a "roll", out of the hole and giving him a small head start. :) :) :)

While it is not a Pantera in the heavy ocean (what is?) the Rocket is a great hull and you don't see them often. I thought that ft might have bought it. Would be a GREAT conversion project to a wacker.

1990 Sunsation Rocket Project with Trailer

Just too much going on to take on this project so my loss is your gain. 1990 Sunsation Rocket 24'

Solid foundation for your build. Ready for i/o or glass up transom and bolt on an outboard Boat was stripped down to get it ready for paint but most all of the factory parts are there - guages, controls, transom assembly, rearseat, hatch, etc etc.

Front boltsters and the hatch top pad were too far gone to keep. i do have the molded hatch base and the front bolster frames so very simple upholstery work to get it back together. Rear seat for whatever reason is still in great shape.

Trailer is an aluminum Float-on. Could handle up to a 26.

Looking to clear space quick, priced accordingly. http://www.screamandfly.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

$3,000 or $2500 without Bravo1 transom assembly.

Lee, you need a Velocity... my 26 went 87 (real, GPS, sustained) with a 510.

Rock solid at speed, great in rough water as long as you have to cojones to hold it there. I LOVED mine!

I'm not sure who grabbed that Sunsation 24, hopefully someone on the board as there are not many choices in the 24 foot performance class

Pantera 24
Superboat 24
Hallett 240S
Sunsation Rocket

any others?

Well guys,
I pulled the trigger. I tried to buy 2 hulls in Michigan and luckily neither of the sellers wanted to meet me halfway (logistically). I am so glad!!!!!
I found a 24' Python in Alabama and got a smokin deal on a running boat that is in great condition. 1995 model, freshwater only. 454 mag. Pics to come later.

Congrats, Python was a regional builder out of Georgia back in the early 90's I believe. What is the stern deadrise on that hull? I remember it had massive cut up front. Add another 24 to the list. Be careful though mentioning a hull that does not start with "D" in these parts LOL

Pantera 24
Superboat 24
Hallett 240S
Sunsation Rocket
Warlock Offshore
Python 24

Bananna is a different hull than the others mentioned, wider beam.
