Fast in Florida
Premiere Date: 12/26/2010
Tanner goes to England to try out a sports car made from wood--with surprising results, and the three of them race against each other from Miami to Key West in car, boat and plane. Michelle Rodriguez gets on the Top Gear test track.
I caught a glimpse of a trailer for this show. The boat is a Donzi, but I didn't catch the model.

I just watched the show for the first time. Somehow I didn't think it was funny to destroy a 1972 Olds and a Fiero just for laughs. Oh well, still looking forward to the Donzi segment in two hours. I wonder what power is in the ZR? Twin 525s?

I thought the coverage of the 38zr was pretty good. Plenty of fun running shots, and they took time to explain the power in a little detail. That boat is just gorgeous.

Beautiful boat, and with twin 600 SCis. Shouldn't it have been capable of well over 90 mph? Cool boat, rest of the show was stupid in my opinion. And they all happen to arrive at the finish within seconds of each other...............hmmmmm.

700's weren't they???

probably doughboy couldn't take it mamby pamby he said he puked

pretty lame show the running shots were ok but the hole premise of the foot race to marker first one to fly over idle by or pull up should have won. also get them to top speed right away no no wake zones let them go all out right from the get go with crews that can go all out.

Yeah, I think you're right. That boat should top 100 mph. The hour long no wake crawl was stupid.

Carl, looked like that boat had the 700s, which means it also likely had nxt drives. Very trick package. With 1400 hp on tap, I think it'd do a LOT over 90.

I think that's the same boat that's in the softcopy of the factory brochure:

...and yeah, the rest of the show was kind of lame. Great for Donzi to get some good ink in front of some new eyeballs though.

Even on the BBC version the 'races' are always rigged to be a photo-finish. You just have to take that with a grain of salt since it's really an entertainment program instead of a 'factual documentary'.

(fans of the original series will understand that comment)

I happen to know the segment took several days to shoot, and of course, was completely staged.
At the Seven Mile Bridge, it took a good bit of a whole day to shoot w/the fly by/drive by/float by the whole point.
It's obviously a work in progress. Maybe they can look for some different talent over the off season.

Whole segment was a set up
Idle for an hour
cab to a plane
ticket to the car . . .

but I believe the ZRC 700NXT boat is capable of 110+.

Based on the reviews here, I am glad I have a DVR and can fast forward through the BS.

I have only had my FIOS DVR for two weeks and I won't watch anything real time anymore . . . waste of time!
the installer guy said it speeds up TV
some half hour shows have 12 minutes of content!

You are correct. 113-115 are the top speeds we've seen in a ZRC with that power.

That is Donzi's ZRC, with Craig Barrie behind the wheel in the shoot?

Nice, I have ridden in a Fountain 42' with that power and it would crack 105 or so pretty easy. He claimed around 110 but I never saw it in his boat. I would imagine that a 38 Donzi would break 110 in style. I would love to see one hold court at the Chattanooga Poker run. So far we have had mostly Fountains and an Ol or two with big power.

We have had a few smaller Donzi's that would run pretty well. Todd and I got to torment some of the 80 - 90 mph Fountains at the event. We had a pretty good showing for smaller boats.

I would imagine that the 38 Donzi would be much happier than a big Fountain in rough water.

Just watched it. At least On-Demand is good for something.

Listen closely to how the chubby one pronounces Aronow, when they introduce the Donzi. :bonk:
