I was looking for a manifold outlet to hook up the vacuum/boost gauge and the only logical one was the small 1/16th one used by the old fuel system...I am hooking up 1/8th copper line for the gauge so the hole had to be drilled and tapped......fresh rebuild and I was not happy about pieces of metal falling into the intake......then I remembered George's post recently about the grease on the tap.......

I drilled the hole out with a shop-vac aimed at it and covered the tap with grease, looks like it did the trick....

Glad I could help.
That trick will work almost every time.
In fact, the most widely used kit to fix blown out Ford Mod Motor spark plugs require tapping directly into the combustion chamber. You can imagine the fear and trepidation! The key to doing that is grease!
You can tap w/confidence.

That's why I am thanking him and started the thread....:bonk:

On a side note, it amazes me that there was a stock 1/16th vacuum fitting on there and I was not able to find a 1/16th compression fitting for it...???
