Nice old 18.

Believe it has the original tank though.

Still..........not many left this nice or as unmolested.

Very nice indeed. First old school 18 I have seen with the Classic 16 style cockpit wrap-around grab rail.

Looks like a very clean boat. Lots of deck hardware added behind the rear seat; grab bars, foot pads, cleats, and who knows what else.

I didn't see a price in the ad?

Ad shows $9995 asking price. Not at all out of line if it's in good mechanical condition.

Hate the side graphics but that is a nice clean boat.

Can't tell if that's a glare or an imperfection in the stripe but it does look like something's amiss there. Tempted to go look at this boat since it's a state away but I've got to wait a couple months before I'm back in the market.

If it's still around I may check it out.

Edit: Here's a link to the boat on the seller's website. Many more pics including one of the scotch tape/stripe imperfection. Not sure what's going on there...

Jstrhan , you are right about being able to better see the tape on the deck stripe or something to that effect and the funny thing is it makes you wonder if they are trying to hide something ?

in the post where N20 posted the pics from the OSO ad, you can see the blemish in pics(from right to left, then top to bottom) 3, 6 and 8.
Either the paint got rubbed off, or tape ripped.
Hard to tell if its paint or tape.
Eitherway, that can't be too $$ to have painted properly... can it?

OK, i now look at the new pics from Shogren's site. What is that grey tape doing there?
Not right.

Must be why they only show the interior and transom in the video. Is it just top side paint needed or everything?

Still a nice looking boat if the mechanics are all in order.

Actually looks like a hole in the deck someone put some tape on to bandaid it up.

I like the boat and have some cash to spend what do you guys here think is a fair starting offer?

I spent $5,500 on my paint job but the shop had over 80 hours of prep time in it. If the boat is mechanically sound, and there are no stringer/transom/deck coring issues, I would offer $7,000 if I really wanted that particular boat.

Figure maybe $4,000 for paint so you have $11,000 into a nice 18. Then think about other 18s you could buy right now for less than $11K, and think about which you would prefer.

So what does everyone think. Is it a good deal for $7000.. With trailer. How hard is it to remove the graphics? Is it paint or stick on?

Yep...it is. Motor sounds good, water p/u is fine (you'll like having it through the bottom of the hull), outdrive seems to be in order, interior is outstanding, paint doesn't HAVE to be redone at this point. In addition, it's 40 years old and will gain value over time. That's worth $7k to me.

Good luck on your search and welcome aboard!

im asuming that this has the opriginal engine and drive on it. How dependable will these 40 year old units be?

How much will it cost to rebuild once they go bad?

I dont mind having a small project boat, but i dont want to spend a whole lot of money now and in 1 month and in 2 months.

I like for this boat to last for the summer than I can take it in for service during winterizeation.

Im also assuming that they will accept a 7000 offer! It might be wishful thinking.

is it a salt water boat or fresh
have compression test done to see how strong motor is. if drive goes they a pretty cheep on ebay
if worried have a survey done
if they will take 7000 for it thats sounds like a fair deal
