remove the cable from the power steering, and try it,the cable is what usually freezes. if not then you are going to have to disassemble the gimbal, the center shaft is probably seized..

I had one freeze up on me. I think it was on an outboard. I used a ball peen hammer and beat if back and forth, while trying to turn it with a pipe wrench. It took a while and went a very small bit at a time.

no! spend the $85.00 on a new one because it wil only freeze up again..leave the cable in the boat until you get the new one,if you look at the cable you will see a part number on it,whenyou get the new one you tape the two together and fish it through the boat,,it yakes me at most one hour to replace the steering cable..

if you clean all the Greece out where the steering arm is(steering cable attaches to it) and get a can of pb blaster from auto zone and hose it down, then go to the outside of the gumball and spray the lower part of the ring it may free up..you have to keep spraying it every few hours and work it back and forth,,it that dont do it then it will need to be taken apart and serviced.

Yes!! WD-40 will clean all the old grease out. But instead of re greasing with General pupose grease. You should use ,Never Seez

Never-Seez Blue Moly Never-Seez Blue Moly lubricant is designed for industrial applications requiring non-destructive assembly and disassembly where combinations of high loads, high temperatures and low speeds are encountered to reduce friction during the assembly of press-fit components. This multi-purpose extreme pressure anti-seize lubricant contains a high concentration of molybdenum disulfide. Especially effective under extreme pressures involving heavy loads and slow speed resulting in boundary lubrication conditions. Never-Seez Blue Moly withstands pressures to 300,000 psi and temperatures up to 1500°F.

Temperature Resistance: -150°F to 1500°F (-101°C to 815°C)
