BB or SB,,check the casting numbers on the rear of the block

I didn't know that until I blew my BBC, then my tech showed me where the ID was, you can even tell the month and year the block was manufactured....

I got my block numbers but cant find a reference identification for my numbers;
top of the drivers side rear of block #10243880
then on the other side there is CO86 and 10 GM 5.7L G SGI
Can any body Id what I have ?

i reads that it could be a 2 or 4 bolt main..

Well thats just great Thanks for the info I was hoping to get that question answered 2 or 4 bolt.
I guess I will need to take down the motor to get that answered.

if you must know you could always remove the drain plug in the oil pan and go through the hole with a boar scope..I have done that with mine to check bottom end noise looking for blue rods..

Is it a factory MerCruiser engine... if so you can count on 2 bolt mains. Even the 6.2's are 2 bolt.

If it is Merc, get the serial number, go to Mercruiserparts.com and look up the parts...
