I'm collecting dash hardware for the TR and I don't remember the bilge pump switch configuration........
Is it "On-automatic"/"On-manual", or is there an "Off" position in the middle?
Is there ever a time when you would want to turn the bilge pump off?

Well, if you dumped a sump full of oil into the bilge you'd want to turn it off before the enviro-cops came after you...

Other than that, about the only time you'd want to power it off is for service. On our bigger boats we use helm switches that can manually turn the pumps on, but to turn them off you have to go to a safety breaker located on a separate sub-panel along with the other things you don't normally mess with.

My 22's not stock, but it's wired auto/manual, with no off position. I think that's the way OEM is as well.

Mine i believe is in the middle of dash , when the switch was off the switch was centered then when it was pushed in on top it was i think manual and when pressed in at the bottom of switch it was automatic . I'll check my dash drawing when i get home tonight and let you know .

My Minx pump is a Rule electronic auto on . Rocker switch is on/off,also seems to be the original rocker switch. When it's on the trailer there is no need to have the bilge pump turning on every 2 minutes to check for water. If it is going to rain when it's on the trailer I'll leave it on. The best set up would be a three way switch with off in the neutral position, on in the down position, and momentary in the up position.

I have mine setup with two, both are fully automatic fused at the battery. One is hooked to the dash switch which for manual but I have never had to use it. I have only seen both pumps go on once, that was up at a 1K run in a down pour. That convinced me to put in hatch drains, the engine hatch drains enough water into the bilge to sink the boat if you have several days of rain.

Would you mind talking about how you did the engine hatch drains. I never thought about this being a big problem. Thanks, deejay

Go through the link below I posted about it with pictures.

Note we have had a couple of dry land and hoist sinkings from guys leaving the plug in there boat, why they never hooked up hatch drains is beyond comprehension! I still pull my plug as water can get in through the vents in a driving rain.

Thanks MOP and thanks for the quick response. What a great idea and it makes me wonder how many other traps are out there. Thanks again, deejay

Mine is "off" in the middle,
Left is "on-automatic",
Right is "on", but must be held in place. It will spring back to the off position when you let go, so you don't burn out the pump.
