View Full Version : Lost Rear Seats

Yep! Hasn't been the cleaning summer with the 2004 18'. On labor day I lost the two rear seats - the bench and and back. Evidently, the drunks in the back of the boat unsnapped them as they were crawling in and out, like fish; and on the last speed run of the day (just two of us). Pooooof - they were gone.

Searched the lake, craigslist ads, and marinas. Nothing :(

Any help in locating some new seats or a point to a good shop to make me new ones would be great. My donzi is white with navy blue strip, if that helps.

Mine always end up on the floor of the cockpit when that happens. I guess the aerodynamics are different. You are not the first to lose your seats like that. There should be some type of positive restraining strap or something.

I'm going to make sure after the new seats are made, found, or repurchased; I'll be making a strap of some sort.

Yeah, like a surfer straps the board to his ankle with a bungee...great idea!

Yep! Have them sew large strips of Velcro on the backs. Then screw the other side of the Velcro to the boat. You can still use the snaps, it will just keep you from loosing the cushions.

that was a LOT of snaps that had to be undone..

If just a couple of the outer snaps are off it is enough to let wind behind the cushion and it comes off. I have to check mine all the time. I also keep a small towel between the seat backs and bottom to keep things tight. I had velcro on the seat backs but it comes off. I didn't have it sewn or screwed on though. At least mine don't blow out of the boat. They end up on the floor :). It's done this since the boat was new BTW.

I can sew in extra snap mounts into other lower portions of the seats and or sew in Velcro pads to also help keep them from coming out if you should so desire. :) J

I never lost a seat bottom, but came close. I went with industrial strength velco this year. worked like a charm.
