Being a 1976, it would have a HIN on the starboard side of the transom just below the rubrail.

That would be interesting to know.

Very interesting. Nice find.

Any idea of how this would perform with that bracket? Any comments about this boat...tell me about Corsicans... A big Ole Suzuki 250/300 would make that thing fly...

Is that a factory bracket?

looks like taped up holes in the dash and that bracket looks to be more modern..looke like they plugged the hole and hung the egg beater on the back

If you have trouble locating the HIN on this Corsican, look in the same general area of the transom mentioned above, but try looking under the overhanging lip of the deck. ie. where the deck meets the transom. It will be very interesting to many to note the number if this is in fact a 1976. There is some dispute as to whether there were 54, 56, or 58 Corsicans built. Mine is a 1974 and is hull number 50 - left hand drive.

Not to knock the ad, because anything is possible, but I have never heard of a factory OB Corsican. If it's true it is unique.

These are great boats - as an I/O. Same performance expectations as an 18' 2+3 hull....but I can't speak to what an OB bracket would do to handling etc.

Yeah - tough to find at first, but glad I did. It confirmed mine was a 74, not a 75 as listed on the papers....and a Donzi not a Cobalt GT-500.

my new boat- it is a 76 ,but was not from factory with an outboard- did have I/O but was changed at some point . Needs plenty of cleaning and mechanical work, but am going to try to get merc running and get it in the water. Wife's not too happy - have X-18 in garage and thinks I'm nuts. But ,just a cool boat, had to do it.

Alright!! That Black Max is a great motor. It should be a 2.4 L with tri-power carbs. Mill the heads, relieve the exhaust, put on velocity stacks and cowl vents to start! Good luck with it. It'll be cool if you stick around and post updates and #s.

Thanks MOP!
To the best of my knowledge this boat has been bought and will be returned to glory.
I have seen many detailed pics of the boat, have a hull number and a bit of it's history. I'll leave the details for the new owner to bring forth when he's ready.
I will state it is not a factory outboard, but someones own creation . . it needs a lot of work, and is in the proper hands . .

I don't think CAPTBEACH will get a break. He's too slow and too cheap. If he finds a deal he will have to go home and think about it and when he gets back it will be gone. Am I wrong????

picked up the boat today- got it home and started cleaning-took off all kinds of crap -mirrors,horns, radios, speakers, etc. This boat was originally built for Donald R Vesley MD as stated by the metal plaque in boat. ReadsDONZI especially built for Donald R Vesley MD- Am not sure who switched to the outboard yet ,but heard it was some water ski enthusiast -thought it would have less wake. As for the Hull# DMR18550276C - Looking carefully at the boat, original colors were white bottom -yellow hull -white deck around yellow rear deck, cockpit and forward raised deck-probably like the one in the brochure.Third owner had it painted and had teak decks put in .At this point I am waiting for engine for my X18 in garage.Just a note X18-1979 right hand-Hull #169 .Like I said previously,I will try to get the merc outboard running and get the corsican in the water.I'll let you know how it goes . Will try to post some pictures soon. Reale

Glad to hear it will be restored.

Thanks for posting the HIN...another piece in the Corsican puzzle is in place. Supposedly, only three were made after your's - two of those are confirmed in Canada - both starboard helms.

Rob,

If Reale's boat is hull number 55, and Oldred's was 54, which was thought to be the last, and 56 is in Canada . . isn't this then the second of the two made after production "officially ended" ??

It would make sense to me as this boat has a custom made name plate . . ?

Mario - just curious to know, of the 56, how many still in existence has your registry work accounted for?

I'm pissed I didn't see this one earlier!
I would have bought it sight unseen.
Post pictures of your Corsicans for me to drool over!
