Ok guys, need some ideas here. Just bought an MSD ignition for my boat and need a good mounting place. Mainly the ignition box. Coil is easy enough, but where are yall mounting the ign box???

Thanks to all in advance,

Flying Tomato

FYI: Changing the ignition so I can install a Nitrous Kit with a timing retard control. Here we go!

Great question, Flying T. I was curious to ask the same thing. My MSD was actually TAPED onto a cooling line when I bought my boat...not cool!

Mine is mounted to a SS plate which is mounted to the bolts that hold the bracket for the rear lifting ring.

I mounted my MSD Ignition module and MSD shift interrupter directly to the transom. I feel there is less vibration there than mounting on the engine.

Possibly to the transom, otherwise there are some brackets that are made for that, or can be made.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside

I made a simple alum. bracket that uses the holes at the top of the bellhousing.

mount it away from the engine's heat and so the heat sinks can dissipate the heat,,i have mine mounted on the transom closer to the air vent..

On the divider behind the rear seat.

Thanks for all the ideas. I really like the bracket made to bolt onto the bell housing. That's probably what I will do. Since I have a transmission the transom is an additional 12 inches away (approx).

Thanks to all,

I mounted mine on the floor next to the battery on a spacer to keep in 1 inch off floor.

This bracket bolts to the back of the head.

This bracket bolts to the back of the head.

I bought one of those brackets, used, on eBay. New brackets can be pretty expensive though.
Also, I haven't had an opportunity to fit it yet.

On the divider behind the rear seat.

Same place also and used the rubber shock mounts supplied by MSD...22 years so far with no problem.
