I thought you guys might like this.
My friend helped me put this in over the summer. It came out awesome and cost me a total of $100.
I bought 4 led truck brake lights and a pair of plastic mounts.
The engine compartment had two of those 6" round white lights (look like the old car dome lights). We just removed them, spliced the new lights into the leads, and mounted the LEDs in the plastic mounts.

This is the result and they lasted all season without a problem!

Wow, that looks great! Good idea to use brake lights.

Just splice and go? Is the brightness due to the new lights being LED?

Yeah, it was as easy as it sounds. We soldered and shrunk wrapped the splices, four screws to hold the brackets and some 3m silcone to seal the mounts to the bulkhead in the front of the engine compartment. We wired to the brake light vs. the taillight for the brightness and yes that is just 4 LED brake lights. I was actually pleasantly shocked how well it works!

Awfully nice when anything with the B.O.A.T is that good !
