I think I found a my Donzi 28 ZX but it doesn't have a trailer. The boat is in Ft. Lauderdale.

1. The step hull, does this required a special trailer? Can I used a regular trailer with a step hull boat?
2. What kind of trailer you recommend?
3. Where should I look for a new or used trailer?

The feedbacks here are awesome....thank you everyone!!!

1.Yes it does. Or at least it should be a stepped trailer.
2.I have a west coast " Pacific". Make sure you don't skimp on a trailer.
3.New

The guy who built my custom trailer for the 22 is near your boat. If you want to have one built, let me know. He did a great job on mine.

I agree with Trueser. My bunks on the trailer were modified for the steps. I did the same for my hydrohoist. It was not a big deal. Not fun, but not a big deal.

I have an aluminum Float On trailer. Unless you score a scorching deal, new would be better.

Tibart,

Can you provide me with the info of the trailer builder? How much does it roughly cost? What are the critical things I have for the trailer? BTW, I'm in Seattle the boat just happens to be in FL. Do you know Catch-22 on forum? Super nice gentleman....he has been helping me and giving me advices.

Call Willy at All American Trailer Manufacturing, at 305-992-4469. Tell him "Bob from Orlando" sent you. He built the custom single axle for my 22.
As far as cost, it can vary so much due to the specs of the trailer. I spec'd everything on the trailer, brakes, lights, winch, jack, tires, nuts, bolts, size, ......... Plus, when I had mine built, aluminum prices were way up. You will have to speak to him. Super nice guy who took great care of me.

Critical...tires, bearings (timkin only), Brakes (I used Kodiak), Lighting (I went with led, no bulb replacement, and sealed)

Yes, I know Catch 22 very well. Usually see him once or twice a year at a gathering. I agree, top notch guy. F'in fast boat too.

Good luck with your boat search, whatever you decide to do.

The trailer they quoted me for is $4600 with delivery.

This includes disc brakes and Front Storage Box (which normally is an added option)

Why tripple axle?

yeah, why triple axle? Its hard to make tight back ups with triples!

I would also verify if they mean to put brakes on all the wheels. You are required by law to have them on all wheels in FL and WA.

Ok,I bought one of these nextrail trailers and I was told its cheaper to put on three smaller axles then two heavy duty ones.I never had problems turning with three axles(weight is mostley on the back axles)As a trucker I know that if too much weight was on the front axle, the front axle tires would scuff on a turn.My state of MD reguires that one axle has brakes.Check your state reg.I know PA reguires two.The trailer company will do anything you want no brakes or all three. My trailer that came with my zr has brakes on both axles.Iam glad it did.
