I actually have couple questions in this post but mainly to get me the right prop for my boat. First off it is 1990 sweet 16 classic. It has alpha drive and merc 4.3l v-6 in it. It also has performance corsa through hull exhaust on it. my first question would be anybody know what gears i have in the drive (ratio) . I just bought the boat and its got a 21p prop on it. Took it out today for first time and the boat is running about 52mph on the speedo. I am going to try to gps in couple days cause it def. feels like its wrong. Anybody the boat should be doing mph wise with that prop on it? it almost feels like the prop is slipping and not making the boat move enough( too high rpm) My main thing is running at the speed on the speedo 52mph i am tached at like 5500 to 5800. which i think is way to high for that motor. I have seen guys sayig 23p is the way to go. I am looking to gain a bit more speed but lower my rpms. (i might be running higher speeds and speedo is wrong) Somebody help me out here with some suggestions thanks...

also when at that speed and tach around there its feels like it hits a rev limit (cuts out then comes right baack like a rev limiter) . I also have a 1982 classic 18. I just took the prop off that and put it on the 16 and am going to try it tomarrow. Its a 22p but its been cupped twice so its like a 24p. probably to much but guess it will let me know if i am going in the right direction. Let me know what you guys think. thanks

Try that and post results. Top speed with boat will be between 50 and 55.

I think your 23" quicksilver prop will be about right. thats what I ran on my 16 & 18.

I'm running the same setup (4.3 alpha) on a 1995 16 classic. The only identification on it is a quicksilver badge with a 23 on it (I assume it's a 23p). I'm spinning 5200-5500 @ WOT (52 mph, gps). In addition to dropping the rpm's a bit, I would also like to reduce porpoising (it's most difficult with more than two passengers in the boat trying to run between 25-35 mph) and reduce torque steer. I've heard some mention of a turbo 23p. Does anyone have some experience/suggestions?

Go figure this one
My (new to me this season)16 Classic runs

54mph at 5100 rpm 21 pitch stainless
53mph at 4400 rpm 23 pitch (worked over suposedly up to 25 pitch) mirage stainless

I am running a 2 barrel carbed 350 with an alhpa drive. I think I might have a 2 bolt main with around 230 hoursepower

Needless to say I will be looking to yank the motor this winter so see what I can do to see 70mph minimum

I run a Turbo Fusion4 on my 16 and have found it to be a very good all-around prop.
