Have a question for anyone that can help,
I have a friend that has just bought a used 2000 Donzi 20 foot with a 350 TBI motor and @ 5400 RPM the motor cuts out then back, out then back as though it has a rev-limiter in it , if so can that be adjusted and by whom ?, the boat runs great to that point, tops out at 53-57 mph on the speedo, comes out of the hole just fine.

Looking for help ,

Thanks Mike

Mike, you should use a bigger prop to lower the rpm. If you let everyone know the propsize on it now they can suggest a new size.

Mike, you are not trimming the lower unit too high are you?

There shold be a tag on the engine that has the RPM range of the motor.

Sorry took so long to reply,

Prop is a 23 pitch
model is a Z20
don't know the rpm limits can't find the tag
don't believe it trimmed to high, no sign of a rooster tail developing ?

Thanks Mike

Try to borrow a 23 four blade and a 25 three blade, the four blade should take about 200 off the top and the 25 should take about 400. I think the three blade will give the best speed but the four blade may be better for all around usage, it all goes back to testing all boats react different!
