anybody have a prop shaft for a volvo 270 they might might want to give up in dire need part # 839385 Found out the hard way that 270 and 280 shafts are different

I will try to remember to look tomorrow afternoon at one of my drives to see if it has the right shaft for you. Bill

I believe I have one loose. I'll look for it in a bit and see if it has any numbers on it.

I have a 897320 that came out of either a 250 or 270 lower. I was told it was a 270 but can't prove it. You are welcome to try it or I can measure anything you need.

There is a 839385 on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VOLVO-PENTA-PROP-PROPELLER-SHAFT-839385-/270536357665?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item3efd393721).

The number on mine is stamped on the inside (forward) end of the shaft...

Yes the number is stamped on the side of the shaft it can be seen with the gears on

If the number was stamped there, whatever let go up above and rattled on the shaft must have camoflouged the number. I also see ever so slight a twist on the splines. Sorry. Bill

Ralph I have a 280 shaft on my 270, only hub for prop is different.

Getting old Ijust remembered I changed the gears on the 290 not the shaft SORRY.
