My good friend, Paul Clarin, who lives on Cudjoe key, and is the publisher of the KW newspaper, informed me that the Top Gear crew is filming on the Seven Mile Bridge today.
He was planning on leaving @ 5:30 AM on his Buell to get to the East end of the bridge before they started shooting.

Oooops!
Not so fast!
Here's what Paul posted on his FB page;

"Well, it was TopGear just not Top TopGear. It was an American Version they are working on that will air on the History Channel. TopGear's American Cousin..So, sorry Sharon no Richard Hammond or even James May to photo."

Seven Mile Bridge......ripped across that about 125 MPH on my RZ 500 with my bride in tow.

It was fun.

While I love that show in it's original British version, i suspect they'll screw it up by 'Americanizing' it.

One can only hope it doesn't get dumbed down for our taste.

None the less, I look forward to it airing and will definitely give it a chance.

I've been over the old Seven Mile Bridge. As a matter of fact, we were coming back from partying in KW when they closed the old bridge off to bring the supports for the new bridge across. They were hauling butt. There was a guy at the end of the supports, who's only job was to steer the rear end. It was surreal.

I went across the old bridge twice in the '60's.
That was almost surreal. The high truss just west of Bahia Honda was very creepy.
The road bed was a bunch of steel they had built over the old RR truss about 50-60' in the air. There were signs to not stop for a flat. We got just about half way across 7 mile when we came up behind a new T-bird w/a flat!!!!!
It took us a long time to make the rest of it at about five MPH!

Come on, we already know it won't be the Stig, it'll be the Stig's fat American cousin!
