Anchorshade on a 22C.....

I saw the other post on bimini tops and didn't wanna hijack his thread....

Was thinking about the Anchorshade for the 22C for the fact I don't wanna drill holes and it packs up and is out of the way when not in use.
I don't have any cleats on the front by the windscreen so I thought about going with some bigger suction cups for the tie downs.

What do you guys think?

I know there have been a lot of bad reviews on them but they are calling them Anchorshade II nowdays and it looks like they may be using some different matierials than what they used to be.....Just wondering if anybody has gone this route and maybe has any pics of them on classics.

Eddie used to use one every weekend on his 22. He added two cleats to the sides by the forward part of the windshield to tie off to.

Suction cup probably would not work. the shade really needs decent tie down points from what I remember. I would use cleats or get Sea Suckers because they are rated to hold a good amount of weight.

actually... if you go the sea sucker route you could get sea sucker cleats and use them to hang fenders on while docked so it would be multi-purpose.

I use one. It works great. Never had a problem with it. It sure is nice, because you can adjust the height and angle for the movement of the boat and the suns position (time of day).

I have used one on my 22. I used larger suction cups in front of the windshield and it worked great!:cool!:

Thanks fellas! I'll have to check out the sea sucker stuff. I don't really feel like running a strap all the way under the boat(while we're sitting still) and I have always had this thing about not drilling anymore holes in a boat.:wink:

Love the matching umbrelly Pismo! I've been looking at these shades for a couple of months now debating on where to get one or not....I see they have grey as a color choice, I think that will match up pretty good.

You will need something to connect the shade to these type of eyes as the straps have large plastic clips on the ends. No big deal, just thought I would let you know.

That's a pic of my 22' with the red & white "Michigan Bimini" umbrella. It is not quite as cool as the matching red/black beer umbrella (complete with fringes!), but it erects quickly, gets the job done nicely, and stows easily.

I devised a clever mounting system using a rod holder and foam pipe insulation. I attached it to the forward wall of my ski locker...it works pretty slick. Here's the thread:

Planet, it is very nice to drive. Zero prop torque, integrated hydraulic steering to the helm, good pull at any rpm range, and true "ride-on-rails" handling. Not that I advocate it, but I can literally let go of the wheel at any speed!

Plus, after having Murphy's Propeller Shop* in Norfolk, VA tune up my propset last winter, I've picked up a couple extra WOT MPH's!
