1967 18 classic outdrive

My 18 has been converted to a Merc which looks to be a pre Alpha 1 and has seized up. I am considering an Alpha one. Will this require any modification or should the Alpha slide right in? Thanks in advance for any input.

I believe (but not positive since I haven't done it, but have looked at them) that they are completely interchangeable.

I sold an Alpha 1 to a guy a few months ago that blew up a pre alpha and it worked just fine, no mods needed.
