I am taking a statistics class at college. One of our assigments is to make a hypotheses, then back it up with data.
My hypothesis is that 50% of Donzi owners also own another boat.
I also stated that 10% of Donzi owners own more than one Donzi.

Does a canoe with a 3.5 hp outboard count as another boat? Anyway I voted for the second option.

Wait, there's no choice for 'one Donzi and multiple other boats'.

I went with #2 anyway. I count my 10' RIB w/20hp OB as a 3rd boat because it's on a trailer behind the house more than it's on the davits behind the Carver.

I don't count my canoe - no motor!

This would be a valid point in the equation.

Just pick the second choice.

7 of us out there.

Stats was a weed out class for the B school at Bama. I am glad that I took it. I use stats on a regular basis in my field. You can make it pretty fun. If you don't understand it, stats can work against you. Enjoy that class, it is useful.

I had some statictics at JC in the 70's. I always got the right answer, but I couldn't tell you to this day how I did it. We had seven tests in that class, and I made seven 100's. Math has always been easy for me.

My teacher says he's a mathmatician, not a statistician. I think you have to have a masters to teach at the college. He wears a UF ring I noticed.

I used trig eveyday working tile. If it weren't for the Pythagoreon equation I'd be lost.

Nice to see a bunch joined me in the "not a Donzi" category. :)

I despised math in HS…as a painting major even more so in college…then I switched majors to engineering and graduated in 74…I guess I’m a masochist …anyway I never thought I’d really use math in the real world but I got hired into my first job brcause I agreed to be trained as a reliability engineer…and I’ve been using statistics ever since…

My teacher likes to point out that he's a mathematiician not a statistician.

Years ago in the 70’s-80’s I was teaching statistics to diverse groups of people in the auto industry…from floor manufacturing operators to senior managers including our CEO….some was theory but most was ‘how to’ in regards to stuff like run charts, avg and range charts, capability studies….this is long before caned courses and software came along…a common way to gather data was to go around the room asking participants their height in inches, weight, age, ect…

anyway sometimes to entertain myself and others I would get carried away and ask things like; how much alcohol do you consume a week or the size of things other than height…we had a lot of fun with it, esp when after the data was gathered I said we now have to verify the accuracy ….you could never get away with that now…in fact I’m surprised I didn’t get fired then…

I'm a counter by nature. This will make me crazy!

I did the Excel using 105 Donzi owners as a sampling. I'll find out Tuesday night if it is what he's looking for.

It was what he was looking for, I just need to change the wording.

This one kid in the class keeps trying to prove he's a math genuis. Everyone in the class is laughing at his dumb remarks. He thought he was so smart that he didn't buy a graphing calculator. It cost $138 at office depot. I took it back and bought one at a pawn shop for $35. I started to download the owner's manual, until I saw there were 420 pages of instructions! Hell, Albert Einstein couldn't use that calculator. When I went to college in the 70's I saw my first handheld calculator. I think it was a Texas Instrument 100.

I have one more class tomorrow night. We turn in our projects and take the final, then I'm through for the semester.

When I went to JC in the 70's, they kept making me take Drinking 101 over and over again, and I was good at it.
