Hey guys, I have a quick question about a drive shower for my new Alpha drive. I am getting ready to order a captains call exhaust set up from Eddie Marine and I was looking at their drive showers at the same time. My question is, what are the advantages/disadvantages of a flex line vs. a ridgid line? These are the ones I was looking it below:
http://www.eddiemarine.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=12313&c=33
http://www.eddiemarine.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=12311&c=33

or
http://www.eddiemarine.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=12308&c=33

Also, if anyone has any better ideas about other companies for a good drive shower for an Alpha drive on an 18C please let me know. Thanks

I like the one from driveshowers.com because there is no drilling involved. bolt on / plug and play deal.

For looks though I like the braided look. Depends on taste really.

I have yet to hear one works better than another in any significant way.

I saw some pretty cool drive showers for alpha drives on ebay for 75 dollars. They are rigid, but are the same design that folks install on Bravo drives. Im not a big fan of the 1 legged design of the rigid shower that Eddie sells.

I have one that i got from SEI (stern drive engineering) i can't rember the price, its was less than $100.It is the rigid type,it is simple to install just remove the clips for the hyd trim rams,it has two holes that slide over the pin. Then replace the hyd rams, and the clip and one bolt on top of the stern drive cap,and your done takes 10min works great on mine.

I just checked the SEI ones, they look the same as the driveshowers.com ones... they might be identical. Either way the major benefit of not drilling the drive out is nice.

I just purchased this one for mine and will have it installed this week. Please call to order though. My $119.00 purchase powered up to $179.00 without me knowing. Quite a surprise. The online quote did not cover shipping and handling!

Eddie Marine pulls that shipping crap all the time. I stopped buying from them because of it. If I ever order from them again I will certainly call and get a total, out the door, no other charges quote first.

I just think the rigid Eddie showers look lop-sided. My only reason, is pure cosmetic. I'm sure they work fine.

I looked at that one from Eddie, but it says it is only for 1989 Alpha drives. Or did I read that wrong?

In my experience Eddie Marine is poor in customer service, dis-honest with costs over and above item costs, which are high to begin with..........and poor quality and incomplete items...:frown:

I dealt with them three times, three strikes and their out.....

I ended up dealing with Stainless Marine for exhaust and CP Performance for a Mayfair/Hardin steering set-up, which at the time, came with a FREE Mayfair drive shower, very happy with both companies and all the products...

89 and older. So 90 or above this is a no go.
