I changed to MSD. I have 2 OMC modules if you need one. one is for a 454HO the other is for a 502.

A good swap is going to the Merc IV pack and distributor, one of the better Merc items a faithful setup.

Do you have th Ford or the Chevy motor? If it is the Chevy it is simple, the distributor fits both BB & SB both the packs and distributors can be found on Ebay.

He said he needed a 460 module so he has a Ford. Makes it harder as GM distributors and systems are way more common. OMC used Ford's 5.0 and 5.8 without spitfire.....does a 5.0/5.8 distributor fit a 460? He could find one of those and use that system.

oteb589 (http://www.donzi.net/forums/member.php?u=10584) the post starter did not state his engine type! True more than likely a 460 heck I should know that having been an OMC tech for about 30+ years. 454's did show up around that time so it could be iffy!

Ok you can still use the Merc pack but you will need to dig up a distributor, the packs run around $75-100 on Ebay.

Thats been my problem too. Currently being changed out by Cabo Marine, along with 5000$ is gel/glass repairs due to the ignition cutting out, and 60mph winds kicking up last weekend.
