I just bought a 22 blackhawk with a 502 and the only problem is the steering seems to be working a little weird, when I turn the wheel while its running you can just keep turning and turning and at idle 2-3 whole rotations of wheel is required to turn it just seems like a lot of wheel turning and the fluid is full. Thanks for any Input . Blake Sullivan

Some of these boats had internal hydraulic steering w/no cable.
They have a Morse hydraulic helm w/two hoses from the helm to the steering cylinders inside at the inner transom plate.
What do you have?

2 hoses to the inner plate? my black hawk had a hyd ram hooked to the tiller arm.
The Black Hawks really do not need external, they do not have the prop torque on the steering system like a single prop unit. I bought the internal to go on the BH drive I had and never used it and have since switched to a Bravo.

stock steering cables are pretty big and can look like hoses... can you snap a pick of the helm, behind the dash?
a pic of what is installed at the transom might help too.

I had an internal hydraulic system from a Blackhawk on the Minx. The helm was really a little too small and required a little over four turns lock to lock.
The point is, you have two hydraulic reservoirs, one in the power steering pump, and another in the helm. There's a fill cap on the top just behind the wheel.
And actually, the two hoses are each quite a bit smaller than a cable.

do you have problems at speed as well or just when going slow
what does it do on the trailer
take pics of the whole boat and post them
also do some research here on the board on driving that bad boy because you will have alot more fun if you do

Had the same issue. Fluid got low, bled the system and problem fixed.

Actually Tim, if you look carefully, you'll see a crease in the filter.........
What a horrible memory!
That Sunday after the filter mishap, the shift interuptor switch failed and the coupler let go.
So it was very difficult to negotiate around other boats and I couldn't exceed about 2200 RPM! :garfield::nilly::confused:

I think I saw your new boat advertised on Craigslist locally a while back, I was hoping you were in NC. My father was pretty interested in this boat. I saw the pictures from your album and thought the boat looked familiar.
Nice boat! Does it hit 80?

All the Blackhawks had internal Hydraulic from the helm and no cables. remember they have poor low speed maneuverability.
