the 302 in the hornet has it's dipstick floating in the wind it is on the port side torwards the rear I can't find where the bracket would be bolted too. I think when they put in the osco risers and the corsa quick and quiet they removed the old attachment point??

ideas??

Mine (289) is on the starboard side towards the front so I guess I can't help ya. I thought the 289 and 302 were more the same than different...

I did some searching for you. Ford seems to have moved the dipstick all around the engine. The most common place is close to or in timing chain cover. Because yours in in the rear, I found a statement from some one who said it had a bracket that bolted to the exhaust manifold stud.
That seems to be close to what you were thinking about the quick and quiet.

this is the best pic I could find. However, this is the exact setup that I have in terms of the dipstick. The hold down for the dipstick bracket it is off the rear rear bolt for cylinder #7
the bracket wraps around the dipstick and then has twist in it as it comes off the dipstick and goes to the header bolt

I found this pic on google, I couldn't get a good pic of mine because its still in the car.
