I just switched from the factory intake and Quadrajunk on my 454's to a Edelbrock performer intake and carb. The old shift bracket doesnt fit the new carb bolt pattern. Does anyone make a OEM style bracket to fit the new bolt pattern? Bolts are 5 1/8" center to center on the new setup.

The aftermarket one doesnt look as strong, whats everyone using?

did you get the webber/afb style carbs? move the studs the the inner holes and the bracket will work..

The carb has inner holes, but the manifold does not.

So mark them then remove the carb stuff the intake with rage drill and tap them, probably a 30 minute job. Before you pull hte rage have a vacuum ready to suck up the chips/shavings! If you lock two nuts together on the existing studs you can pull them and use them in the new holes!

tap the holes in the carb to 3/8 finr thread and install studs and spacers to cleat the nuts that hold the carb to the intake..or see if you can use the one stud on the corner of the carb and see if the bracket lines up with the other empty hole and just rethread that hole..and install a stud or bolt. another option is to rethread the carb holes and install helicoils to bring it back to a 5/16 stud..

I will look at drilling and tapping the intake. I also thought about using the corner bolt and a piece of alum. to bridge across.

I had a spacer with that would accept a bolt underneath. Basically, you insert the right sized bolt and the spacer held it in place from spinning.

I used that same bracket, then went to Lowes and bought some teflon bolts that were hollow, and spaced the bracket up enough to clear.

Instead of spending $42.00 plus shipping and waiting for it to arrive I made a extension plate from a piece of aluminum to mount the OEM throttle bracket and spent the money on something else.
