Anyone have a good source for impellers?

looking at 47-862232 A2. Found them at JMSonline for $29 but the site seems hokey. Most other places they are about $36.

Yep. It is about enough gas money to get a boat with twins out of the marina.

I actually think it is a good idea to use the local places. So you spend a few extra dollars. Those guys have to make a living. If we all bought everything from some ebay specials, those guys would not be in business. My local guys are nice to have around when I need something on Friday and I am getting my boat ready for the weekend.

Don't get me wrong. I think it is fun to look around for specials on some extras from time to time, but I use the local folks as a source for general maintenance items.

I don't mind going local for 5-10 bucks but isn't even close. The one place that I can find them they are $50 and change. times 2. I'm not blowing 30 bucks for the hell of it.

Never been to South Beach eh?
I've tipped to dock boys more than that before.

I believe in supporting local businesses as much as possible before Walmart owns the entire US.

Agreed.

It ain't cheap being cool. Walmart and the mail order guys are not much help when I smoke an impeller before going to the lake or need some Merc hp gear lube in a pinch. I can tell the the local guy is not getting rich. He is there and always appreciates the business.

I look at service the same way. For the most part I do my own stuff. I feel that it helps me know the boat better. On occasion I let the local guys do a few things that I can do myself or may be short on time. I like them there if I run into something I can't solve or I get too busy in the fall to properly winterize my boat.

I recently paid the high priced diesel guy to service the Chris. I had some friends tell me that what I paid was over the top. It may be but I now have his card, can call him for questions now and he knows who I am if something on the Chris craps out. I would rather be at the front of the list to get fixed during the summer than the back.

You're right. I remember a few years back when Allied Discount Tire had a commercial with a real funny guy on it. He said. "All you yuppies out dere mail ordering your tires, who gonna fix that tire when something goes wrong, the mail man?" :)

Shoot, when I was a baller owning eight boats at the same time, I blew money thousands at a whack.

Ah, I miss those days! :)

Its so funny how you guys get off quilter in the conversations! Goes from impellers to alcohol in a few replys lmao. Years ago a bunch of us were in Miami for the last Winston Cup race and we had a hotel on South Beach. Once downtown partying every bar we went to none of them sold Miller Lite, only Bud light, Corona, and Heineken. So long story short one of the door men at a particular club promised to get us Miller Lite if we entered. "OK now we're talkin" He ran down to the corner store and bought a 12 pack and came back, then proceeded to sell it to us for $6 a bottle, THE MOST EXPENSIVE LITE I'VE EVER HAD, next time we drink Bud light! I can laugh about it now lol

Where there is a need, there is a need.

We stopped by the hotel bar the other night after pounding a few. My friend bought a few on his room. He looked at his bill the next am and discovered that they were $10 a piece. They were some imported Mexican beer. I am not sure what really happened. The place sold Stella's at $4.5 a piece and it is not like we were staying in New York. Heck, it was just the Marriot in Winston Salem.:drinkbeer: Oh well. It was a good time.

not sure wether we are talkin take out from a store or at the bar but for me 6-8 beers when I am out is just like the first hour or so.

normal bar here 3 bucks domestic 4 bucks import fancy smancy place maybe as high a 6 bucks a domestic and 8 bucks import.

the best place I ever drank was the bell terra casino in indiana on the 20 cig run. casinos here drop money at the table and drink free if you can find a waitress. or if you sit at bar with a video poker machine drop a roll of qtrs and drink free as long as your dropping qtrs. so i sit at the bar out there they didn't have video poker machines so I play a slot machine and a waitress takes my order, she comes back and says 75 cents please for a bottle of bud. I ask isn't the booze free when you gamble she says no that is against the law out here. good people would never give you booze get you drunk and let you gamble we have to sell you booze. think it was 1 buck for a mixed drink and 75 cents a bottle of beer.

I told her you gonna loose money on me tonight I think i bought the entire casino a drink put a ben franklin on the bar tipped the bartender 20 bucks and still came away with change. the ride back to cinci the next morning was a little interesting.

back to impellors I have used jabsco impellors in the past and found it at a local supplier things like that ( well on an old ford ) I like to eyeball them to see if they match up. I would imagine with a merc things are a little more straight forward. I found online stuff is only cheaper if you get free shipping. I bought a few trailer parts for what I thought was a great price, found the same things at gander mtn was about 6 bucks cheaper then the online purchase with shipping

Dang, if you had not mentioned the impeller thing in one of two more posts we could shift the whole conversation to alcohol and then maybe :smileybo::pimptwo:

Back to those silly impellers. Not sure why they make a different size for the SBC/Bravo combo vs the BBC Bravo combo. Maybe it it to go along with the pain for those of us that have to squeeze into that 18 hatch. Sounds like a good time to throw a little bus towards my local mech. Man I hate changing those. Makes me actually look forward to working on the 26.

On second though. Back to beer

That's not a bad price in South Beach, trust me.
Oh, and the word you were looking for was "off kilter". :)

BW went out of business here too. There is only one Mercruiser place in town and they don't stock much of anything. Mostly egg beater stuff in this area. the other main Merc dealer went out of business about 6 months ago.
