Someone mentioned a capacity plate on another thread and it got me thinking. I've never seen one on my 22ZX. Am I not looking in the right spot? Do I have to have one by law?

Technically you don't have to have one so you might not. It is a 20' and under requirement. But there is usually a sticker around the dash somewhere.

I don't have one either....
Below are the regs:

Without having read through all those regs, mine has one posted on the inside by the throttle (6 persons).
But I think it may have to do with the possibility that either your boat predated the requirement for posting for boats from 20' to 29', or a previous owner removed it at some point.
Just my opinion. I could be completely wrong about either or both.
However, my '99 C16 and '01 C18 had them, but not the 2000 Z3250. I do know that size matters (as always).

My 1999 22ZX had all of the stickers but not a capacity. As a student of the 22ZX, this means I check out the boats for sale on the internet. I have noticed some of the pre-1999 22ZX boats have a capacity sticker - this is about a 4 inch square item, usually placed near the throttle control. Some folks seem to take all of the stickers off. Most seem to leave them on. Color of the sticker is yellow, silver and black. So here you go:
