Prop Recommendation for 22' Classic

Hey sorry for the completely noob question, but I'm trying to decide what to run on my '90 22C with a 460/KC combo.

It currently has a Bravo 4 blade 22p on it, and according to the factory tach, WOT trimmed out I get up around 5100-5200rpms, which I think is too high for a stock motor.

I was thinking either a 23p or a 25p 3 blade? Brand preferences?

:cool:When I had my stock 454 power I ran a 23 Turbo and it was great on the KIng Cobra, today I might suggest the TXP version of the same prop. with the 1:43 Ratio Drive it will be in the Rev Range of the motor. Your 460 has more ponies than my 330 hp motor did....but I would start there.

Thanks for the info....what kind of RPM's were you seeing out of that prop?

:cool!:4600 to 4900, that engine although reliable, was not the strongest runner I only saw high 50's or low 60's.

I'm seeing low to mid 60's at 5200 rpms with the 22p 4 blade, so I think 4900 would be much better with the 23p?

You will need another 4 blade 23, a 3 blade 23 will spin about the same as you 4 blade 22.

Think a 25p 3blade is too much for it? I've heard that 4blades aren't good for these boats?

that engine is done at 4600, wheel it there, cruise at 3000-3300...

Got my new 25p Tempest plus in the mail today with an OMC hub....we'll see how it turns out
