Hey Tony,

How do you like that Volvo setup?

Below is a quote taken from this thread:
http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=55202&highlight=dpx&page=3
which is a very informative discussion, with lots of info and links regarding the Volvo DP and DPX drives.

I absolutely love the DPX on my 22' Classic. An E4 propset (the highest pitch of the three choices; E2, E3, & E4) and the stock 385 propshaft hp puts me at 70 mph in almost all conditions.

Good out of the hole, strong mid-range pull, and true "ride-on-rail" handling thanks to internal hydraulic steering. Zero porpoising, and zero prop torque...quite different than my Ski Sporter! Plus, with the drive designed to handle up to 600 hp, I am counting on a long and productive life for this drive.

Hey now, I did have the blower on it last year. Maybe only for a couple hours of testing, but it was on there! I still clocked it in north of 80 mph.

Of course now the motor is scattered around the garage in it's bare component state. But it will be back. Oh yes, it will be back and faster than ever. I'll be looking for 85 on the next version. Then it'll be time to look at a shorty.

Michael---- I like the looks of Glens way better than mine and wish I would have seen it before I had mine made-- attached is a full Sunbrella one I had made by my local awning guy. It has been snugged up since fall and fits much nicer- easy to get on and off with all the straps.

Merc, that's probably my favorite color. Beautiful boat.

Bamboo, you picked the right color for your cover. My black one gets Smokin' hot out in the sun. Also the black rubs off onto the corners of the boat. Your cover looks good. I'd just get some sort of padding for the front hull strap. It will pit the gel if you tow like that.

1986 Z29. Twin 350 Vortecs (2005). Sides are original, just a lot of wetsanding. The top was painted, the custom McCleod interior white and the off white the boat actually was didn't match up to well. Plus the top was faded so bad wet sanding couldn't get it back.

Maybe it was the fiberglass fumes since I was involved in my own repower project at the time but my last post was on 5-10-09 and the thread was dead until 6-24-09 and I never saw the results! It looks just like mine in there. Everyone note that the bow area already has a plywood floor so no weight is added up there except for the carpet. Yeller, you're going to love all of that storage space, and an area to climb into to get out of the rain or for an occasional over-nighter. I recommend this mod to everyone with a 22 and gear spilling out of the stupid little bin! :)

It is in my possession now, but we all still think of it as the family Donzi. I am just the current caretaker of a time capsule. My dad and brothers are all talking about this boat and reliving some of the memories in it. I call my dad frequently and ask him about what oil pressure he ran or he tells me about running the heads down to Mondello back in the day or our trips to catalina. My brother gives me his advice on what may be needed.
We all appreciate that everyone on Donzi.net has enjoyed reading about it.
