The other night we had a visitor from outer space arrive at our home in PA !
Noo I have not gone around the bend~
Other's opnion may differ on this fact?
Here is the story~
The other night aroud 10:00 PM we heard a loud bang in our back yard.
I went out to investigate and saw nothing or nobody.
Our motion detector floodlights did not turn on.
Today Dad took a walk around the property and came in and asked~
"Did you know that there is a big dent on he top edge and side of your pool heater?"
We both went out to have a look-see and spotted a fresh 2" round hole near the pool heater which was indeed dented!
I dug down about four inches and found what I believe is a 2 1/2 " meteorite !
It is about 3 times as heavy as any similar rock of this size. It is pock-marked and appears burned.
It is attracted to a magnet and there appear to be very small sparkley crystals that can be seen under maginfication !
I plan on contacting an old friend at the Franklin Institute astro physics dept.
Anyone know anything about meteorites ?
Here a two digital photos.
ENJOY !

Very cool. (Might be worth a few hundred to maybe a k or more if you wanted to sell it. I think it'd be nice to keep.)

Almost definitely a meteorite from the ones I have seen and held. Highly cool!! There is a market for them as you probably already know. A friend of mine once sent me an ancient native American pendant made from a meterorite that had fallen a few thousand years ago for my inspection. They are typically very heavy metal based pieces with varying surfaces from the entry heat. Bill

I have seen on TV where they sell for $$$$$$. No way would I ever sell it though.

On the coolness rating chart I rate that right up there with "Shark Bite Scar"
