Here are 2 PowerBoat Magazine "Tests" on 22 Classics. Also a Motorboating Magazine article on the 22 Classic SE It is interesting to see crankshaft HP and Propshaft HP in the 1992 specifications...seems like a lot of HP is lost at the prop.

Thanks for posting.

I remember reading the original test of the Donzi 22 Classic in Powerboat, and how much they trashed it because of the way the boat rolled up on its side. At least they did this re-test with the "trim under" restricted, which fixed the problem.

In the Powerboat article, they mention how the 22 was the basis for the Minx, but the way they describe it ("a uniquely styled model with separate windscreens for driver and co-pilot who sit farther back in the cockpit"), I think they are talking about the Criterion.

I never noticed this before, but also in the Powerboat article, in the picture with the boat in the foreground and the seaplane in the background, the seaplane appears to be "sitting" a few inches ABOVE the water. Must be on a lift.

Great articles, I remember them both. A 22 with an HP500 should go faster with the right driver.

What would cause the 456 lb. weight difference between the two boats?

Cool. I printed them both for my collection. Too bad the pics are crappy in the second article. There weren't many 22's from the factory with Mercury Racing engines.

What year is the first article from?

Both boats should have run faster. These guys don't know how to drive them. Kind of tells you how unique they are!

The OMC is 1992. The SE is 2002. My 1993 22 is the same color scheme as the 1992.

OK, thanks. Now I can date the article. Here is another that I posted a few years ago.
