All:
I am looking at ordering a new 22C and would like to better utilize the cuddy for storage and also to have a windshield similar to the 21GT.
Do you have any thoughts, pictures ,suggestions etc?
Thanks.

You can read all about the cuddy part here.

Carl C took a lot of grief initially for even considering doing this, but it has been very well received, proving to be a useful upgrade. (No money was received in exchange for this endorsement)

Thanks guys; Yup, that's it! That little storage bin is BS. If you are ordering the boat new talk to them about doing a factory mod. It was done at least once before from the factory but not just like mine of course. You don't want to add much weight up there either. If I pull my carpet I am lighter than stock. With the carpet the boat is about 17 pounds heavier if I remember right.

You can also see that I have the aluminum fairing which the factory will install (at least they used to).

Welcome to Donzi.net and keep us up to date on your boat order please.

Thanks guys. That makes all the sense in the world and a more userfriendly craft.
Now how about the windscreen. I need to get the SO to opt in and 55-60 dg salt water dermabrasion ain't her thing. Come to think of it not mine either.

The most functional 22 shield is from the mid 80's 22's. they had a little flip up tab in front of the driver and passenger. The front of the shield is also taller, you can see the sides of them curve up at the end instead of being straight.

I would opt for one like that. They work MUCH better.

you can kind of see it in this thread: http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=61150

And also here for just the shield... http://www.updplastics.com/optimized%20images/LARGE%20JPEGS/Donzi-Classic-1988-22-ft.jpg

Hmm,
I did my GT21 with a 22C-Style windshield (see pic), it's much lower and looks much better- and you want to do it the other way (see other pic)??

You'd better prove your approach with a photoshop rendering first...

Axel,

You are certainly the master of Photoshop. How much of your boat is real?

It is just a white hull at this point, I thought, so the decals, bottom paint and stripe are photo-shopped in?

I have done a lot of that, but nothing like what you are doing.

I'd rather be horsewhipped with the whole horse than put a cuddy on a 22. They aren't meant to be the SUV of boating.

The windshield on my 1982 22 was worthless. All it did was channel the wind directly in your eyes. The windshield on my Minx was much better. It's surprising what a little flip up will do.
