Anyone know how FL issues Hull numbers?

Curious because I saw a 2009 27 ZR on boat trader that has the same ending letters as mine and numbers only 6 higher sequentially. Just thought it was odd that they were so close.

Could be indicative of actual production.

That's what I was wondering. Or, if it sequential to when a certain manufacturer's boat was titled.

This is just one of those curiosity things. I noticed the hull numbers on the 27 because they looked nearly identical to mine. I think even the same font.

FL 0001 AA
FL 0001 AB

OR

FL 0001 AA
FL 0002 AA

Whichever way, it should be by initial title/registration date. Did Donzi do your paperwork? It's quite probable they sent out a batch to a tag agency.

The letters at the end of Florida Registrations change as the four numbers finish their sequence. 0001-9999. They Changed from AA probably 40 years ago. The sequence of letters changes the second letter until AZ...then it becomes BA...and so on. If you were to see a boat registration with A as the first letter...VERY OLD.

It is like the one above. The letters are the same, numbers 5 different.

Donzi did not do my paperwork that is why I was curious. I walked in to the place here in Tallahassee for the paperwork.

Based on Barry's info it means the guy that bought the 27 ZR must have registered his boat shortly after mine and it is purely coincidence.

Yep, the 2 boats were registered close to the same time.

By the way, last two letters on my 1974 Tahiti, that I registered in February 1975 are "BK"... my Donzi's last 2 are "JN"...lots of boats registered in between them...I'm curious as to what the last 2 numbers are for a boat registered today would be...anyone just register their boat?

The Florida registation numbers indicate the year it was first registered. I know that GD indicates 1988.

The title of the thread is somewhat misleading. Florida does the registration numbers, while the boat manufactorer does the hull numbers. Florida could care less how the boat mfgr come up with their numbers, but they will be on your registration and title.
