Hey guys i was just curious and would like your opinion is there much call for carbon fiber bling these days ? I made this pannel awhile back and thought i would show a pic before i ship it out UPS to a friend in Tenn who is going to use it for his center console on a cat . In the future i was thinking of making a few pannels with different colors and twill's .Once again opinion's please :nilly:

G, I'm trying to picture how a carbon fiber panel would look in the triangular insert on the sport deck of a 27 mag. I've seen all types of inlays used, but this might be very unique.
Or are you just talking about smaller applications .i.e, dash panel, accent trims etc. etc.

I think it can look really good. Just depends on what you are going for.

Not to be rude i need opinion's and what am i going for is up to anybody who might want something like this and not really sure because i made this pannel for $hits & giggles out of scrap fabric that was laying around in my garage .

I wouldn't use it for mine. I think it would look out of place.

Some boats I've seen where people have done their own thing, and added a few accents that work together look really good. The 009 limited editions used a little and I thought it fit right in there. Mixing it in sort of randomly as one element in a boat that is otherwise original seems chancy on having it look right.

Something where there is nothing but gel, and a single dash panel? I would think it could work for those, just as a black panel or a wood panel can work. I'd probably still opt against it myself, but I think it could work for many.

FWIW, if that helps with a bit more direct opinion. But I am not sure I am very typical, if you are trying to sample the market. You might do the opposite of what I think. :)

Carbon fiber is available in many shades of color not just black & gray, i'm thinking about replacing a plain white plastic dash panel with white carbon fiber look on my 93' Chris C..
Wood grain dashboards today are kind of dated to the 60's & 70's.
Here is a familiar pic below that looks great with that red carbon fiber panel below the gauges instead of just red plastic or left as white gel-kote.

GHOST , Mike , i guess that can be a yes or a no as far as being out there to sample the market . Mike ,i just thought i would ask for the pure fact that if someone wanted something like this i would be able to offer it hopefully at a better price considering i made this from scrap in my garage and with that in mind i am not l@@king to get into this as a fulltime business considering i have been working in the industry for over 37 years now and kind of pic and choose what i want to do .

Sorry not my boat G.G. I wouldn't even be able to afford the fuel :frown: to make those gauges work, I was just using that pic to show that Carb/fiber does come in different colors and looks more hi-tech then paint or woodgrain on a perf boat.

Hey P, I'm just thinking here, but how great would a blue carbon fiber insert look upon a white sport deck - of course, with color matching hullsides.
That would bring alot of sparkle! - maybe too much Bling though, don't know.
My Sport will be arriving within several weeks and placed in the 18'X38' enclosure here at my home in Jersey. Then I'll be snaping many pics for you
to see what I'm dealing with.

G.G. and Mr X, thanks.

My last piece is a carbon fiber plate to mount Livorsi throttle.

This project will have to wait another month or two as the boat is 300 miles away.

Could you actually believe someone dared to present that as a wind fairing???....It's coming off first thing, I think I can do better! Mario's '68 sport V-screen

Sorry!!! (continued from previos post) - will resemble the wind screen of the 24' Banana....I might go with that instead of a wind fairing. Parnell, I intend to take my time with this project, I'm in hurry at all. you'll have to put up with me as you buzzz through your 27 - I'm thinking a mild pair of 383 scorpians!

Pete,
Line that thing with black carbon fiber inside and out making it bulletproof then cut a few gun port slots into it and sell it as a DEA performance option.:shades:LOL!

Scippy I am the sawzall king Just start cutting and it will be gone in no time. I still have 2 months to finish my 21 then 5 months of boating. I am not even starting on the magnum till fall and I have a whole winter of grinding and sanding before I get into the fun stuff. I figure I'm two years away so don't expect a speedy fix from me!. 383's for me too

This Mag came from the Port Clinton Ohio area. I heard about it 3 years ago, it was stolen & recovered missing the drivetrain & hardware. When I heard about it it was for sale hull & trailer for around 3k. Thats about all I remember about this sport.

Hey Smidg, That be the one!......Really don't mind the missing power (it's what I prefered in this project) but the hardware, primarily the 2 side engine grilles is gonna be tuff to find.............anybody have a clue?
