That is one of my all time favorite donzis. I heard a story that Geo used nitros on some of those big number runs.
A good friend of mine had an X18 Donzi, black and white, with raised X dimension, volvo drive,400 plus cubic inch motor, external steering,Spinelli prop that accelerated like a drag boat, wound up motor between 6300 and 6700 RPM. I would have paid to see these two race!

It really is no mystery, everyone knows that jimmy hoffa and amelia airhart have mighty mouse on their small island "atlantis" in the bermuda triangle.

I heard that DB Cooper wanted to buy it for his next get away!

...it says alot for the Bennett tabs. Figured that much air would fold em.
I have the sport tabs w/dual actuators and they're only rated for 60.

The CIA bought it to replace the now retired SR-71 spyplane ; the fastest plane ever built.

It's now classified "TOP-SECRET" and housed at area "51" to keep it out of any enemy's hands; who might want to reverse engineer it!

So at what speed do dual ram Bennetts become marginal on a 22?

So at what speed do dual ram Bennetts become marginal on a 22?

83.778 mph (relative to the water) at a water temperature of 21.31 C and a barometric pressure of 993.5 millibars. Unless there is a high population of Asian carp in the vicinity and then the whole equation is thrown right out the window and you must factor in the fish slime constant...

Someone spilled the beans to me at AOTH IX. Since the revealer didn't know better at the time I'll keep quite. But all guesses above are wrong.

Sure would be nice to see MM back at AOTH this year.

RedDog

Here is another video from AOTH I? I have another one somewhere that I shot while MM did a fly-by. I'll see if I can find it.

Tom Davis
03-24-2010, 07:41 AM
Its not the speed its the re-entry from high above the water! Much better to have K-planes or rocker plates. Ask yourself when you re-enter the water what part of the boat hits first (if you do it right)? How much does your boat weigh? Add in the inertia and what do you get? How many pounds per square inch exerted on the tabs upon re-entry? Do the math...

Bent tabs or the destroyed cylinders or the cylinders come loose from the tab or the boat.

And we are still not revealing the mystery MM owner... all of the above are wrong, but there have been some hints along the way...
