For the second year in a row Tom, AKA "Fishin' Sucks," just happened to be in the Los Angeles area on business during the L.A. (deck)Boat Show.
We had to give a nod to the West coast boatbuilders for a few innovations not typically seen on our Donzis or other East Coast performance craft. There were two notable innovations among the lot, the first being a built-in blender hidden beneath a billet door on an Essex deck boat, seemingly it was one of that boats few redeeming features. The second innovative option was the door in the side of the hull on the Bow of a 33 Hallett which Tom noted was a great way to offload bales of errrr contraband.
The show was smaller than last year but there were still quite a few nice high performance specimens. So here are a few pics from the show.:kingme:

Thanks for the pictures - some awesome stuff there. I find it interesting that there is a market for bow rider high performance boats. Bill

Yeah a lot of the cats with big power are bow riders. I don't know how smart it is to give people the option of riding up front in a triple digit boat. People like to load up the boat with a dozen or so friends to cruise out to the sandbar and join the party. One of the Eliminators had a generator in between the blower motors to power his stereo for the day.
Tom and I talked to Bob Leach from Eliminator for quite a while. He's a super nice guy and he builds a good lookin' boat too.

Personally I'm not a big fan bow rider styling on any boat. That long fordeck just looks 'right' whether it's an off-shore or a new Chris retro runabout. But you can't argue with the functionanity. And they are really popular for hi-po boats out here as you can see!

Yeah, Jeff and I both agreed we are not into the whole station wagon with side pipes kinda thing (aka deck boats with thru hull). While the show was smaller than last years show, we still had a great time and inhaled plenty of resin/gelcoat/fiberglass fumes to help us through the cabin fever thing.
I loved this restored '61 Hallet, beautiful boat.
