Get rid of this irritating pop up. I've tried everything I know of. It comes up when you navigate between pages.

The worse part is I'm taking some college courses online, and this page keeps popping up.

You computer is infected! Buy some penicillin for computers asap. :shades:

Seriously, you have malware problem. Malware is a general term for virus, addware, spyware, etc.

Lots of computer pros on here will guide you through getting a clean computer again. Stay off the porn sites is good advice but like an STD, sounds like it's too late.

I use the following FREE programs
AVG or Avast for antivirus
SE Ad Aware for addware/spyware.

Malwarebytes is another good one as others have already said.

As already said... use Avast! it is free for home use.

2nd, use FireFox. it will give you far fewer problems than Internet explorer.

3rd, run a no adware program frequently...

Adware Away even the free version removes most crap.

Beware that some of malware delete programs are actually malware.
So if a box pops up and says something like "123 worm has been detected. Download
Slickster to remove ($48)".
You have been infected and the remover program will infect you even worse.

Free from Microsft, I have been running it since Jan 3 very good results.
http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/ It pretty much does it all, the two below are old favorites as added insurance.

Another good freebie!

Another good one also free!
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

The first one I only have for a short time the other two have been on all four computers for a couple of years, both are highly recommended on many tech blogs.

Joe click the link below, I just noticed you said you "cannot down" load stuff. There is a chance you got hit with "Conficker" a nasti that has been running around for about a year now. The site is self explanatory, if you can see all the images you are Ok if not then you have to go through the drill of removing. I have had three customers machines that got hit lately, it was dormant for awhile but is popping back up again.

Amazingly, last nite my home computer flaked out with a bunch of crap. The main ones were win32.netsky and security essentials 2010.

Luckily I know how to fix this stuff so I can keep visiting all those nasty websites.

I tried out Malwarebytes and that is a GOOD one. The free version does not do live monitoring and updates however. The free version runs everything by manual operation via YOU the user.

I will try out Microsoft security essentials tonite. I suspect this is a good one too.

The assholes that write the viruses copy names of good antivirus software and twist the name slightly so the unsuspecting uneducated user will fall sucker into paying for the crap software that will F up their computer even worse.

There is some really nasty virus/malware stuff out there. The ones I got last nite caused bazillions of popups with fake warnings, disableled system restore, disabled F8 startup in safe mode, added a BS warning to the desktop picture and disabled that feature too. Pretty much locks up your computer so the average Joe (pun intended) is screwed. Normal fix routines no longer work.

I have a WindowsXP Pro Bart PE disk that allows your entire computer to run with networking so you can get on internet without even needing a hard drive in your computer. Everything runs off the ram memory chips, thumb drives, and the cd-rom disk. PE stands for preinstall environment by the way. Read about it here.
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

This will let you bypass damn near everything and allow you to backup data on an virus infected hard drive. Once data is backed up, reformat hard drive and reinstall windows, then reinstall all the other programs. It's a long crummy process, but when you are done, your computer will be like new again. Blow out the dust bunnies on the inside of case/laptop while your at it. The Bart PE disk is my last resort tool when all else fails.

I didn't get it fixed. Despite the fact I have two computers, I had to go to the library to turn in a project for a college course I take online. I have class this morning, but I will get after it again.
