We just went down to the lake this past weekend, We boated from Jamestown to the dam and then down past Conley (almost to the lunch stop) and only saw 3-5 pieces of debris. The lake is the cleanest i have ever seen it this early in the year, so as long as they don't raise the level between now and then the water will be perfect.

Since Todd isn't "able" to post I thought I would volunteer him as part of the Red Bikini Crew:cool:. He said he has been dieting to get the last few mph out of the SE to keep up with the big boys...so he thought he may look good in a kini! Peeps,

Now it looks to me that the event includes (3) boat runs -

friday

1. lunch run to lees ford marina

2. return trip to jamestown marina

saturday

3. fun run to harmon creek

Bringing my newly repaired & Trueserized 1990 Sweet 16 to the event. I know it will run great! This boat is roughly a 50 mph boat. I know I will get left in the wake of many, which is fine.

Not knowing the routes on the lake system, will it be difficult for me to navigate, keep up, etc. Will there be other slow pokes, relatively speaking, of course?

When Im on the small lakes of northern Wisconsin, no problem, as I know the lakes and a 50 mph boat there is very fast.

Give the newbie some advise....Thanks in advance.

XEDMOC

glashole

you are going to have a great time

we have everything from really fast boats (blackhawks) right on down to 30-40mph boats

everyone runs in one direction then we stop and wait for everyone to catch-up and start again so we try to keep everyone together as much as possible

as mentioned above
the only issue that we have run into is the big dogs(aka fastest boats, akka blackhawks, more commonly known as the biggest of deals) don't really pay too close attention and run so far ahead that they tend to go too far (the end of the lake) and have to come back

the beauty of this running is lake is that there are only 2 directions you can go and if you are behind just keep going until to see someone you recognize or if you are ahead stop and go back

No need to worry new brethren, Shea is right (Glashole)! You will have a great time. Besides, it's a rule.........no bitching allowed!!!!!!!!!!! I will be starting a thread pointing out some tings.

While the lone Donzi 275 medallion cruiser may only have a top speed of 42 mph, he was not the last one to Lee's Ford last year......and no, he did not get a head start.

Sorry to hear you won't have your better half with you, maybe you can find a rent-a-chick on the dock or something. Shea used to bring a chick wit him, now he just brings a dood.

Look forward to meeting you, have a safe trip down,

Tom,

Look forward to meeting you too! You have been very nice to me, thanks.

Perhaps, I'll find a Kentucky girl who enjoys the aroma of a fine cigar, and ride'n in a bad ass lil boater. Then I'll have to 86 her before I leave!

I like the way you think. The good news is, the girls down there are used to being 86'ed on Sunday when the boaters leave so it won't be hard and she won't put up a fight.. lol

Have a safe trip in.

you are going to have a great time

we have everything from really fast boats (blackhawks) right on down to 30-40mph boats

the only issue that we have run into is the big dogs(aka fastest boats, akka blackhawks, more commonly known as the biggest of deals)

Those dam blackhawks want to run 80+ and leave us slow guys :)

Going out this weekend to get the boat ready for the run See you guys soon
Can't wait

This will be finished, a clock mechanism installed, and brought to the AOTH auction.

It was intended to be a test carve of a new design, but it turned out good enough to be a keeper. My digital routing machine's chuck broke, and fortunately the company came out with an upgraded version just days before. The upgraded version proved to be better than expected.

I will hold off on disclosing the "final" version for now.

Hey Mark, looks like the water is up this year, maybe even higher than last year at this time. Here's the link for the live webcam at Jamestown:
http://lakecumberland.com/allcamz.php

On that same website, they show a pic and a story of a thunderstorm that did some damage at Lee's Ford.

Maybe we can get the Official Tow Boat to sweep the lake for us:kingme:.

Okay, the down side may be that there will be floatin lumber. The up side, we won't have as many steps to go up and down at the resort or Lee's Ford. The other up side: We will all have a great time:yes::yes:!

from what i have seen driving around in nashville, most of the wood from l c has ended up in downtown nashville or on it's way to clarksville and beyond. i would think they are letting the lake down as fast as they are allowed with out causing further flooding down river(nashville) do all you ladies have your boats, bumpers and ropes ready?

They have a lot of damage there from this past weeks storms. They are working hard to clean it up and there are a few groups forming to go down and help them out. On up river a whole marina broke loose and took off downstream.

Lee's Ford may still be a mess when we get there but the rest of the lake should be no worse than years past. We all need to pray for high winds and no more rain, that will get it cleaned up quick.

Well anyone that was at AOTH last year may remember we repowered my fathers X-18 jet with the original 454 mag motor out of my 1994 22. It was a great solid low time motor when taken out of my 22. When we decided to use it in the X-18 we pulled it out of the corner of the basement and washed off all the cobb webs, prepped it, including priming the oil system as it had sat for about 5 years. All was good!

Well in typical fashion, we never fired the motor once installed in the boat and waited until we got to AOTH to run her. Dad backed it in the water and hit the key. It fired right up but no oil pressure so he shut it down immediately. So....no X for AOTH last year. After AOTH he stuck it in the boat shed and forgot about it until about 4th of July when we went out to diagnose what the issue was. We determined the distributor was not mating to the oil pump rod. So we thought he may have used a SBC rod instead of a BBC rod when installing the low profile jet boat oil pan and pump last year.

Fast forward to last night...

We yanked the motor to change the rod. Well we found that the melling hi vol pump he used was actually the issue. The stub coming out of the pump was where we lost the length(see pic). So we grabbed a new pump off the shelf and reassembled! Problem solved! :kingme:

Do you mean 'Has anyone been on the water for a better report?'? I think Todd and Deric have.

We are definitely coming!!! We have toughed it out in storms, debris, warm sunny weather, empty fuel tank, cold crappy weather, broke starter bolts, over heating issues, broke spring/U-bolts on axle on boat trailer........but never ran out of beer/booze, good times and great people!!!!! As mentioned in the 'Do's/Don't's', we have no control of the weather and the water, but we do have control over our attitudes. Remember a few years ago when some people were concerned when the water level was lowered because of the wolf creek dam repair and peeps were saying there wouldnt be enough water to run in? Well, there was plenty of water, abundant scenery, and a great time was still had!

Looking at the lumber at the Jamestown resort live webcam, it looks about normal........Great!!!

Can't wait to see/meet everyone tough enough to be there,

tom

Here is a water report from the local Marine Assist owner. He posted this today.

"Just for informational purposes,

We had a call yesterday and ran the boat out of Lee's Ford (http://lakecumberland.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=27338#) Marina to respond. Fishing Creek was surprisingly clear of debris.

Today I was at Waitsboro Recreation Area and no debris was noted anywhere in sight except on the bank.

Yesterday I was at Halcombs Landing pulling a boat out of the water that came from Grider. No debris reported or seen on the main lake at all.

No debris noted in the Jamestown area.

I have no report from the Conley area as of now.

The water is a little muddy colored from the runoff, but most of the debris is already hung on the bank and the lake is settling back to 680. Unless we get another quick rise I would not expect conditions to change. We had some good winds while the lake was going down that caused the debris to clear pretty quickly.

There is a lot going on in the next few weeks. If you want to be a part of any of it I suggest you get on your mechanic's schedule to get summarized or you may be caught up on a list and not launched when you want to be.

The water color should improve over the next couple weks as the sediment settles out. "

Sounds like all is clear for the Donzi event as usual.
