Got these pics from a frozen friend! They came from a link off teh net!

Amazing striped icebergs

Icebergs in Lake Michigan sometimes have stripes, formed by
layers of snow that react to different conditions.

Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet
fills up with melt water and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form.

When an iceberg falls into the lake, a layer of water can
freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a
green stripe.

Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up
when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the lake.

Frozen Wave Pixs - Nature is amazing!

The water froze the instant the wave broke through the
ice. That's what it is like in Lake Michigan where it is the
coldest weather in decades. Water freezes the instant
it comes in contact with the air. The temperature of the
water is already some degrees below freezing.

Just look at how the wave froze in mid-air!!!

Living near Lake Michigan, I had some real doubts when I got the email. I've never seen anything even close to that on it.

Sure enough, FAKE.

Regardless, they are some very cool pictures.

I think you picked up that they are real icebergs - just not on Lake Michigan. I have received the pictures from a few friends now - very cool looking! Bill

You guy's are great, my post was intended as a polite comment on a possible cut n paste flub. However, my favorite was the shot of the first "burg". Too funny.

I called that girl in Minnesota yesterday. At first she was giving me the temps in Celsius. Turns out it was -3 degrees yesterday. And she wonders why I won't go there. The same thing for the girl who now lives in Massachusettes who left here yesterday. I told them both in no uncertain terms I would never live north of where I am right now. Never.

What's with all these crazy women? Now, one wants me to move to Boston. She just left Tuesday. Talked to her this morning, and she said it was cold! Imagine that!

It's kind of cozy sitting next to the wood stove. I just really want to drive my boat!

Joe,

Just a thought but if you have the time go for a few days or until you had enough time together, then head back to your land of sunshine..
Thats the only Climate change i'd believe in.

I had enough time with her this morning when she called about 9am. It was 13 degrees in Boston.

No thanks. Been there, done that, and had enough of it.

When I lived in Oregon, the lakes were our favorite places to ride. This was way back with what must have been one of the first snowmobiles. My uncle next door to me had two 250cc Ski Do's. He got a 330cc snowmobile, and that one was the chit! They were all pull start like a lawnmower. :)

I was a bar tender when I was 22. Their was a girl from Minnesota who was a friend of my dining room manager. She was on vacation for a month, and came in every evening. We started going out, then she stayed at my place the last two weeks. We fell in "love". She was going back to Minnesota to get her stuff then move to Florida and live with me. She had sent me most of her stuff, when she got a great job offer, and wanted to stay there, and have me move up there. I told her no for about a week. Then I got drunk on Bacardi and left in the middle of the night and headed to Minnesota. After the trip from hell, I finally made it there. It was in February. I stayed one night, and flew back to Florida. I decided right then that I would never move up north again. I never have. :)
