Hi everyone,
I am getting a old donzi classic 22 and i want to put a Mercruiser (496 magnum h o w Bravo 1) on it.
The guy who purchase the engine asked me what gear ratio I want to choose and I've got no idea!!!
I will use the boat in salt water.
Do you know what geat ratio I should use and what propeller should I put according to the gear ratio???
Thank you for your help.

guess it is a 1:1.5 ratio with a 23", 24"or 25" prop- depends which prop manufacturer, labbed or not, 3 or 4 blade, but for sure you will get better answers as this one- just wait till the experts reply.

yes, 1.5 is pretty much the standard. Stock from the factory would have been 1.5 with a 25" Mirage Plus.

1.5 is the best choice, from there you can go up or down in prop sizes, if you over geared (1.3) or under geared (1.6) your prop selection narrows quickly.....

It should be a 1.50.. Also depending on what altitude & power level engine you choose the usual props are 23p, 25p Mirage plus Merc blades.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside Restorations
