Has anyone ever added a notch to a 16 Classic hull like this one from a current member? Curious if more then one have ever been done and would be great to see photos if there are any.

Greg ... that's not just a notch, they added a pad ... I don't think I want to mess up my Donzi to make it handle like a bass boat.

Velocity uses a pad bottom. A LOT of positive points said about them.

RPD, Obviously it is a pad and a notch. My question was focused on the notch and if anyone has added one. I know that this particular photo came out of the archives so it was done to at least one 16 Classic hull at some point in the last twenty years I suspect. Probably a long shot, but worth a quick ask to the broader group.

Greg,
that is Ed's boat and I think it is an extended pad not a notch

The 16 shown had a 8"x6'pad,6"step,extended strakes.

I didn't mind the bumpy ride at 90, as rounded hulls don't fly true..

A modified Arneson(Geo) would likely be a better route, but I don't think they were around back then...Ed

P.S. Yes that was my 16 in the pic...

Don't know if there is a notch, but here is a 22 with a pad.

Thanks Ed,
It looked like a little notch in the old photo. How far back did you put the step on that 6' running pad?

Got it, 6" notch then 72" pad and extended inner strakes. Thanks, the picture did not look like 6".

Did you extend your 16 strakes right to the transom, or did you pick a number longer then the factory strakes?
