Jimmy is coming to Jacksonville 2/20. Anyone know about the Veterans memorial arena there and what seats are good?

Do you really want to hear his propaganda speech about how fast boats are killing the "Manatee" and that what you own should be banned?

Last time I was there, I was in section 108, which was pretty good, albeit kind of far back. The floor seats look to be the way to go, although off the floor to the sides is probably pretty good.

We did some tailgating the last show I went to. We had to do it in a parking garage, but that's what they seem to do around there. I'm sure there's a better way to do that.

Will you be staying in town, or just doing a day trip for the show?

I have seen Jimmy Buffett 7 times. The last time was in Tallahassee 2007. I don't agree with some of his politics, but I still like the music and his shows are great.

I don't agree with a lot of peoples politics...that doesn't mean I don't like them, agree to disagree. Hummmm, what a concept.

I agree with Barry. I've been watching Buffett since before there was such a thing as a parrothead, and there was no bar called Margaritaville.

It was his first song that ever made the charts. It was his only one for years.

He used to show up at Harold's Knife and Gun Club on Mad Beach.

FWIW, more than 50% of annual Manatee deaths are caused by flood gates, dams, and locks. Only about 25%-30% are caused by boating.
Have you ever seen a campain against unsafe flood gates and locks?
I didn't think so.
It's political.

True story.....
Jerry Jeff Walker and Jimmy Buffett had a gig together in Miami in the late '60's, I think. When they arrived, they found the job had vanished for what ever reason. Since neither had been to the keys before, they decided to travel to Key West and hang out.
One ended up going back to Texas and the other stayed.

That must have been when Buffett came down from Mobile, Alabama.

Ray Willie Hubbard and Jerry Jeff Walker. He tells this story so funny! :)

We are going with another couple and we both tried to get tickets right @ 10AM when they went on sale. Luckily the other couple managed to get a set, we did not. It must have sold out in under 5 minutes.

We're in section 105, all that is available. :nilly:

BTW Barry, I was at the show in 2007 too:)

I have been to a few Jimmy shows and I can't remember him talking about Manatees or any of his other political type deals. I do remember a great time every time though.

If I remember correctly, the 2007 Tallahassee show, procedes were donated to a charity.
I saw Jimmy mostly in New Orleans at the Jazz Festival. The only show I saw him that I didn't enjoy was at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The accoustics were so bad there you could not tell what song was being played. But the Party was great!

I don't remember if it was charity or not. either way, great show. We sat in back of the stage there, in cheap seats. He turned around for us for a few songs which was nice. We also had nice access to the club dining room area to get Margaritas!

Back in the day, Jimmy sang about getting drunk on Tuborg Beer.
