My wife bought me a new 28 ZX for Christmas
and I am dissapointed.......
Right hand seating with a left hand prop..
What was she thinking..
Took a little test drive and not too impressed....Ed

It is a step hull Ed. You need to get it running pretty good so the hull can release. You need a little more space to get it running.

I would also recommend adding a little boost.

Never seen one with an inboard drive though.

Bubble bath is needed to free up the hull...

Be careful with that motor the tend to overheat bad when pushed if you don't keep an eye on temps. I would recommend you keep full throttle blasts less then 90% of the drive time.

HA. Ed, I got the same one. It barely has enough power to escape the pool filter. Maybe if I rig up an extra battery or 2....hmmm.

A nice chain saw motor will make it Fly!

McGary911; Yeah sure rub it in. Swimming pool that is not frozen.
Glass covered for the chilly boating under the stars.
You really need to get the twin outboard skimmer like I have :shades: ...Ed

Ed,
Small freshwater lakes like that one just don't have the room needed to really air out a 28ZX.
Part of the problem with your boat is the single engine, inboard configuration. But look at how "green" it is!

I have two - a blue-ish one, and one like yours. We throw a few tennis balls in the pool and then go bouy racing.

McGary911 is correct about the pumps and filters tending to take a real hold on such a light hull. :boat:

Ahh. I see what's wrong. Mine's the 26ZX, not the 28. I may have to upgrade. Twin motor boat though.....

Ed, I just checked the pool. Not frozen, but also not above 60 Degrees. No swimmin' for me. Just some screens out there, no glass. If that was glass, it'd be about 700 degrees in the summer. I could always fire up the heater, but that'll cost just about as much as filling the tank on the Donzi.

That motor is a work of art,.... I could watch that video over and over ;)

I do seriously wonder what kind of HP it generates, there is a in-line twin we use in the hobby that generates a little over 24hp. Also, wonder what kind of time and money he has in that.

You guys wish you had an ice boat, the fastest iceboat has been clocked over 100mph which is bigger then the one pictured. The one picture is one my husband and I built with alot of help from Jim Nordhouse who showed us how and has been up GPS at 75mph thanks to him making it for speed.
