George,
I had made the presumption that the fins were there to make use of the air by making adjustments to them while under way - mostly to get the right angle of attack. What do you think? They definitely look adjustable. Bill

Thats kinda what I thought, they are definatly adjustable and I imagine "attack" the air like ailerons....?

I wonder how loud the boat would be from the inside with the aluminum hull and twin 1200HP engines. It dawned on me that the hull could act like a sounding board making it almost unbearable inside. There would not be much dampening of the engine vibrations - just an observation. If those same engines were in a tunnel hull of the same length, it would be running 150MPH+ instead of 115MPH. It would be fun to take it out for a ride - very radical and intriguing concept. Bill

Here's a picture of a Buzzi boat w/anti stuffing fins......

My opinion is that if they were for air, they'd have to be quite a bit larger and higher.

So, how do you make a hull like that out of aluminum? (Mfg process I mean.)

Most of the time they are built upsidedown on a framework of ribs and bulkheads then the formed and sized plates are welded on.

Back in the 90's there was a boat company in Ontario Canada that was building aluminum offshore boats that looked like a 35' Fountain. I wonder if this hull is from that builder ???????

Holy cow! Apparently, the reserve price has been met at only $70,600. It sure seems like a bargain - not that I am in the same ballpark as it takes to own a boat like this unusual one. I would guess the engines would be almost that much to build up and install with exhausts and other hardware. Bill

It shows Alexandria Bay as its location, being up there since 2004 I can't figure out why a few of us that frequent that area have not seen it. Wonder where it is headed would like to see it in person.

saw that boat at the Leamington Marina (Ontario side of lake) several times. Was an amazing piece of work. From 20' away it looked idnetical to a Fountain.
I heard it was involved in nasty accident w/a breakwall involving passenger fatalities and think that may have been it's demise.
Great idea though.
