What prop's are most guy running with larger hp. engines, standand bravo 1.5 ratio. Not looking for total speed, but a nice running three or four blade. I tried a lapped 26 bravo that had alot of slip. Any suggestions.

I guess the question is what's a larger HP engine?

Larger stock motors like the 496HO (425hp) and/or 502Mag (415hp)?

Or something a little healthier?

I like the hydromotive 4 blade on my brother's boat. HP 500, 1" raised X, Bravo 1 1.5 ratio. It's a 27" labbed prop. It isn't the best for top end but super easy to drive.

Best top end look at a labbed Mirage +

I have heard that the hydromotive was a good prop, but I have a standard drive without shortie. I currently have ran a 25 mirage plus which is the prop I have ran the most. I know I will need to up the prop with the bigger Hp.

A 540 550 hp.

Nice, that should be a runner. You got any pics of that bad boy?

Jeff I pulled this out of one of Roatrips post, he ran a strong 500 should give you some direction! He talks about the 3 blade to 4 blade issue:

Quote the Tripper: I run a 29 labbed mirage with a bit of cup removed. The hydro is a labbed 28 with the blades thinned and balanced. I would imagine the same rule would apply for you. Step down an inch in pitch for the three to four blade conversion. CDMA supports this theory on another similar post...

I've tried a 28 Bravo1, 27 Hydro Q4, 29 M+, 28 Tempest Plus (really a 29 repitched to a 28......so I was told).

My boat handles different than most, but I run about the same hp you are stating, and no shorty. I much prefer the 3 blades. I've never done back-to-back testing, but the M+ seemed to work the best. The Tempest is very, close to as good as the M+, but it gets out of the hole better, so that is my prefered prop. The M+ blows out extremely easy when getting on plane. So much so that (even though I've never tried) I doubt I'd be able to get on plane if I had 4 people in the boat.

The boat feels more skiddish in the arse with the 3 blades, but I like that because it's predictable. I equate the 4 blades to running racing tires on a car. Holds really well, but when it lets go....look out! Whereas 3 blades give me more warning before things get crazy.

I'm still looking for the right prop
