Anyone try a Tempest Plus?

Two weeks ago I went for the maiden voyage in my 18' after a 2 year resto. Since the engine was built I borrowed a 25' tempest plus off my neighbors bass boat. I got 69mph on the gps speedo at 4700rpm with myself and to buddies and a full tank off gas, not too bad for the first time out! The problem is the boat got real loose around 65mph. It never did that with the Turbo 1. Just wondering if anyone else is using the Tempest Plus?

The small diameter outboard prop could be your handling problem. The boat looks like a million bucks though.

I've never heard of a Tempest, but just wanted say your boat looks BEAUTIFUL, congrats!!!! :yes:

Oh, it's an outboard prop? Isn't that a 13" diameter? I have a Turbo 1 and love it but yeah, Maddad is on the money, you need an outdrive prop, 14 something diameter, I bet that's the problem.

I got 99 MPH with my 29 Tempest plus, and the acceleration is unreal....I like it much better than the mirage plus.

Thanks for the kind words, it's been a long time coming! I believe its a 14 5/8" dia. It has alot of stern lift which I think is the problem. The mid range is amazing. From 40-50 is a matter of a couple seconds. It actually puts you back in the seat.
