Pulled the engine today, 351 with the Holman Moody package. MOP, thanks again for coming by and making it happen. Foolish me, I was going to try and do this by myself.

Wow! A personal visit from MOP to help with the removal. I did mine with his moral support on the phone.

I'll bet the two of you didn't tip over the cherry picker like I did, dropping the engine on the floor. This is a good thing not to do.

Although I pulled mine with the deck OFF, making it infinitely easier.

It was a challenge the 16 is some tight to begin with and the H/M is a tad longer then the Merc's or OMC's setups.

....nicely exemplified. My hat is off to MOP and Sluggo !

I wish I could contribute more, and / or help someone along the way on here. I've had to push many a rope, but always offer to pull on one any and every chance I get.

I very much appreciate all I have learned from so many contributors on here.

Nice folks, nice site, nice boats.....nice way to enjoy our time away from the stress of a work week and/or other trials and tribulations....

Not that it means much coming from me, but thanks for the exemplary decorum and testament to this site. The genesis of friendships through these machines is what I think it is about.

(not so sorry to have somewhat hi-jacked this thread) Again, great job MOP & Sluggo !

With kind regards,
Phil S.

Removing or replacing a 351w in a 16 isn't a very nice adventure. Here is what my engine looked like going back in.:smash:

Sluggo, you are one lucky guy. A few years ago, I was blessed by a personal visit from Mop, and I had to crawl in his bilge.

I am still trying to figure what I did wrong.

Man, those transverse-mounted smallblocks are a tight fit... ;)

His boat has the special "front end drive" and because of transmission requirements, the engine has to be mounted transversely!
