Do any of you guys use goggles when driving? Over the years, I have lost quite a few pair of prescription sunglasses and clip-ons when turning my head to the side. I remember racing against Ross Perot years ago, and he wore what looked like ski goggles. At the time I thought it looked sort of lame, but I am ready to try something like ski goggles over my regular glasses. Also, my last run in my boat at Possum Kingdom, I could hardly see with the tears coming out from the wind. Any other suggestions? Bill

Before I bought my Wind-aways, I got a pair of Baracuda perscription googles. Google them googles!!!!. They are actually swimmers goggles so they fit tight to the eye sockets. The are able to be ground to perscription specs, but not bifocals (damn). They are are tinted to sunglass degree tint, too.

Do look into the Wind-aways. I haven't worn my goggles since I started using them!

Thanks for the replies. I read the thread and looked up all the ones you guys suggested. If I spent more time in the wind, I would invest in some of the more expensive prescription glasses meant for it. However, I only want to use something very occasionally. What do you think of these? They sound reasonable and are made for regular glasses to fit under them. Bill

Cause looking like your going snow skiing in a boat is never cool. Jeannette said Snoopy wears these.

Wiley X from OpticsPlanet, Inc. <Sales@OpticsPlanet.com>, good price, good service. Wear mine on the Harley and the Donzi. Don't look goofy, the glasses at least, I won't comment on what I look like wearing them!

I asked my eye Doc about prescription goggles was a bit pricey, I asked about any alternative. He said to try a pair with lens lightly tinted in yellow, my eye are not to bad but fuzzy with out help. I bought a pair of cheap dirt bike goggles to give it a try, I was surprised how well they did work. No it did not correct any vision but my eyes did not get much of the straining feel of not having my glasses on. Maybe you could borrow a pair to see how they work out, also mine had foam around the edge and I could but did not wear my glasses under neath.

And people were laughing at me not long ago!:yes::wink:

I got these at the local Harley dealers, good thing about them is that I can wear my Serrengeti sunglassess underneath, I will see if I can find the brand name, they were only about $40 and comfortable as hell and DO NOT fog up like some ski goggles...

Adidas has very good sunglasses for all sports, where you can click in an optical insert and also change to a headband:

OK, I have looked at many options at this point. Keep in mind that I need some really good wind protection and ones that will not fall off. When headed into a 30+MPH wind at 90+MPH, it now becomes a 120MPH wind in my face. Almost without a doubt, the least expensive way to go to have prescription wind resistant eyeware would be to buy some ski goggles that fit over my regular glasses. I did find these relatively cool looking mini goggles that can come with precription lenses for about the same price as my regular glasses and have a choice of lens type. I am thinking they would be a good alternative. What do you think? Bill

Since the ones I just posted the link to are recommended for motorcycle or skydiving, I figure they would work well to at least 120MPH winds.

Here in NH we have a no helmet law. I am no stranger to loosing shades from the twist of the head. I usually hold one finger on then bridge of the glasses when I look to the side or behind me. But now they have tethers that go on the glasses that hold them in place. I haven't used them personally but I now a few who :censored: by them

My probelm is as much the wind in my eyes as keeping the glasses on my face. Even with glasses, at 90MPH or so the tears almost blind me. Most of my boats do not have windshields that function to break the wind so I really need more eye protection. Bill

One of my problems is that I don't live in an area that offers much of anything like this so I have to do my looking and buying online. Isn't 142KmH almost 90MPH? That is lightning fast on skis! Bill

I wear Adidas A125 with the prescription insert on the Harley. I also yellow snap off lens for night riding

If you prefer to wear your normal prescription glasses, then Fitovers
might do for you. They haven't come off when I looked back at 90..Ed

The best solution that sticks on the head and lets nearly no wind through will be a skiinggoggle and you will need the one that is made to wear over prescription glasses (on the sides is a cutoff for the frame and they have a little more room inside):

http://www.gosportspex.com/Oakley_L_GoggleForSkiing.asp
http://www.vision3k.com/brands/alpina-ski-goggles/alpina-ski-goggles.asp

All OTG goggles from Alpina are made for prescripion glasses and when you take the Quattroflex lense, its polarized for a real good view in every condition.

If you take some special sunglasses, it will look cooler and it might work.

Yes, Im a fast skier, was in the German Paralympic team for many years, won my last medal in Salt Lake.
