A friend has had good luck leaving several open plastic jugs of ammonia in his motor home. He had problems before, and none after.

Before a freeze fill a 5 gal bucket up half way with water. Buy a bag of salted sunflower seeds and poor them into the water. They float. Install a diving board, small board / LATT that they can easily climb up and dive in. The next day you will find them at the bottom.

I throw a few on the diving board for treats.

Works for mice, ground squirrels , and others.

Within three nighs you will clear the barn. record number 8 in one night.

Raid the wife's spice pantry, or go to the bulk store and
get some whole cloves.

Sprinkle them around, mice won't come near, vacuum up
in the spring.

No kidding? I will have to try that.

It better not be one of those snipe hunting things because I probably will do it.

If it is, it's convinced the chipmunks at my friend's house. They fall for it. (Pun intended.)

EXACTLY my thought.

He11, put a ladder in the bucket so they can get out and do it again, install a webcam, set up mouse-olympics.com, and use the revenues to build a fancy heated garage.

I have also hear about this 5 gallon pail thing but a peanut butter covered can on an axle. The axle being supported by the rim of the bucket and the ramp leading to with in 3-4 inches of the can.

Anti-freeze in the bottom of the bucket, mouse reaches for the peanut butter, places paws on can, can rolls, mouse looses balance, you know the rest.

Can be used year round with anti freeze.

Not a fan of mice. But I gotta say I feel for the poor guy drowning like that. I think I'd go for a taller bucket (they couldn't jump out of) and just leave it dry, and go a different route for the coup de grace if needed.

(Yeah, I know I'm a pu$$y, no need for anyone else to point it out. :) )

OMG, it works.

Hey, at least I have taken folks snipe hunting! LOL.

That is a riot. Maybe I will try Buizilla's 110 route for the humane solution.

Snipe hunting!!!! HAHA I've taken several people snipe hunting...well actually I've taken several people to a place to snipe hunt and I went back and sat around the campfire. 2hrs was the longest we got anyone to stay out there.

RE: snipe hunt. I shouldn't laugh (given how little I know and how easily this could be done to me on SO many subjects).

In the old lawncare and landscaping days, we used to tell new guys to run wash the windows on the Cub Cadet before grabbing lunch. I'm sure someone has told people to change the spark plugs on a diesel too...

I don't wanna be on U-Tube. Don't get out the video.

I loose my balance frequently when I paw too many cans
of Labatt's.

However the idea of dead mice being scattered about the bilge with peanut butter all of their little claws, hmm . . . . . I am thinking more of the ammonia and dryer towels - does anyone have experience? It sounds easier, and less dramatic - btw, will a covered boat smell like ammonia in the spring?

I mentioned the ammonia. I went into the RV (29') after an entire summer (they were no longer using it) of the ammonia bottles being opened, and there was no smell, or any evidence of mice. I believe he told me he poured ammonia into the caps.

The owner told me the smell of ammonia was never a problem, and it most definitely got rid of the mice, which were a problem before.
