eBay has been amazing lately. The money they want for some of this stuff is crazy. I saw a 5 grand Volvo 270 the other night. A simple 3” chrome barrel lock with shipping is 40+ bucks. In west marine it was only $25. They are just insane. I have also found that some folks are just reselling things. You do a search on something and find a normal dealer has it for $300 then you see it on eBay for $375 plus shipping. They are just buying it from them and selling it to you and pocketing the extra 75 for themselves. I caught one a few months back.Something I needed was on back order from the dealer so I found one on eBay and wrote the guy asking if they had it in stock. “Sure do” was the response. He didn’t and I beat on him every day until it showed. By the time it was done he lost money on the deal.
The bottom line is eBay is not what it used to be.

Agree, you need to know the value of the item before bidding. I look at alot of new stuff on ebay, but figure you can always find something on sale at retail for at least 20% off. If ebay price isn't at least 20% less I don't even bother bidding.

Ebay is indeed different than it used to be & you really have to watch as some of you have found... Granted there are sometimes good deals out there, but there are also ones that cost more than buying it from a dealer in the first place.. I think it is good yet to get rid of used stuff or clearance items that you really want to move, but other than that it is something you you really have to watch IMO... :) Jamie / Lakeside

Found another last night. For a used stock BBC valve cover they wanted $110.00 Like most know a motor takes 2. So thats 240 bucks for a set of used valve covers. http://www.supernova19.com/forumcw/Smileys/classic/WTF.gif
